Do you feel like it's been a long-long time since New Year's Resolutions, but like you'd love to renew these resolutions, with the same confidence as on January first? Then how about committing to "no more munching after a cut-off time"? Water and tea are allowed . Details in our January thread: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/146782-january-2011-no-more-junk-late-at-night

Newbies are just as welcome as old team members! :flowerforyou:

THIS IS ONE OF MY WORST HABITS!!! Ok sorry for the caps but it seriously is a bad habit of mine...what time should we try to cut off eating?

My worst habit....but then I work night shift too! It's hard to flip flop my sleep schedule! :-(
    Didn't snack last night though!
  • Okay, okay! I'll try to check in once in awhile. I really need to do the calories to maintain and polish off/finish off my weight goals. So I appreciate your persistence to get me back. I joined facebook which has been taking a lot of time for me to learn. (I'm not breaking up with MFP). Thanks, Dew, Lorna and Love :flowerforyou: :flowerforyou: :flowerforyou:

    Feb. Me1 vs Junk 0

JoanneKe: I hear ya with the nightshift work, since I work nights too. Sounds like you did well last night. :flowerforyou:

Say some prayers for us OK. We are having a mess with this winter storm. (Ice storm, electric power outages for some, heat, food, getting to work etc) :noway:

Andrea, try going for 2-3 hrs before you go to bed. At first, your stomach will remind you that it loves to be tickled , but once you'll teach it that things are done your way, it'll thank you for letting it work at a slower pace at night. Have you ever noticed that you have more nightmares when you eat heavy meals before going to bed?

Welcome, everyone! To keep better track of our battles with snacks, we've had so far the format:
Me: *your points* - LNS *Late Night Snacks points*
    Example:

    Me: 1 - LNS: 0

'cos I was good last night . We report in as often as we can, mostly on a daily basis.

Lorna, Rosemary :flowerforyou:. Hope Zaza, loveme and Chuck find this thread soon .
  • Hi

Can I please join this too? Late night snacking is my worse habit.

    Starting tonight no more LNS!

I started this in January and plan to continue this month! That was a biggest drawback. Weekends especially.

Been there, done that! It was frustrating sometimes, but on the whole, this didn't hold me back.. You can do it! :flowerforyou:. The most important thing is that you are accountable and still in the game .

I have such an issue with this. I will do awesome all day, and then BAM, I get these cravings when I am laying in bed. I used to keep some cereal bars in my dresser. No more. Last night was a good night.

Count me in! That is absolutely the worst time of day for me - just sit on the coach, surfing and snacking! I definitely need motivation - just give me the time (dinner is kind of late around here - like 7:00).

Amen! I'm trying really hard to work on this too, count me in. I tend to stay up fairly late, usually until 1 at least, so for me, I'm going to say no more food after 10 or 10:30.

Ok so I usually go to bed around 11, haha I am typing this at 2 13..its friday I went out. So if I got to bed at 11 then I guess that means I am going to make 830 my cut off..this will be a challenge...anyone a midnight monster snacker?

I literally wake up sometimes..and it always seems to be around 3 or 4 in the morning and I just need something sweet....so now I just set a bottle of water next to my bed with a packet of crystal light in it..so if I do wake up I gulp that and it has actually been working.
  • I have question ,what if your still very far from your daily calorie goal with all the extra workout calories is worse to eat late? or not eat those calories back ?

    Just checking in quickly.

I told you the old Zaza was back.
I am sticking to my 9:30 cut-off for now, but I think I should move it up (except for late nights out when I allow myself until 11:30 pm).
I leave for Fla on Mon so I won't be checking in for the week I'm gone, but I'm going to try hard to stick to my 9:30 cut-off. I'll think about making it earlier after I get home.

Good luck everyone over the week-end. I know it's a hard time to stick to challenges. Just think about reporting in tomorrow morning and stay strong. Impress us!!

As a rule, try to distribute your calories evenly over the day. It's in general a bad practice to eat a few large meals. It's better to eat about every 3 hours decent meals.

Of course if you have a lot to eat back, you should eat some. However, try to eat nutritious food, rather than a lot of food, or fat/sugary stuff. This thread is intended to eliminate the junk, which as a matter of fact, is just as bad over the day.

    So, are you in?

Me: 4 - LNS: 0. Btw, I am not 100% strict with my 9 p.m. cut-off. I've been long enough at this to know when I fail. The apple that I had last night fter 9 was not junk and did not make me eat something else after it. Which I did feel like, because apples make me hungry...

    bee, yeay!
Zaza, :flowerforyou:. Will miss you this week. Have a nice time!

    How's everyone else doing?

Keep up the good work, people!

First two days: fail :( Buttttt tomorrow is going to be better. Any tips for holding yourself accountable to this? Do you guys put up reminder notes or anything? Brush your teeth at your cut-off time?? Thanks friends :)

Some floss/brush their teeth, some have an alarm going off.

A reminder note on the fridge sounds like a good idea, too.

Also, try to not step foot in the kitchen after the cut-off. Make sure you don't have snacks handy in the living room either. This way, temptation is out of sight.

I am watch/clock-dependent, so just having a quick look at the clock is enough for me. I keep track of time around dinner and then I stick to water/tea. On my good days....
