I am currently working a shift at work overnight.
unfortunatly, I am not able to get on the tredmill tonight at work
What can I do tonight to burn some calories.
I have to stay in a small office, and not make a lot of noise. Whats something I can do quietly, without looking a fool incase clients come out of thier rooms
what are some things I can do to try to get some execise in today?
Im feeling major guilt today.. hardly any water drank.. and I had a big mac last night :(

I NEED to do something tonight

Hey i work at night too

Okay here are a couple of things.

Get two reems of paper put them on the floor and you can do step ups
Use that same reem of paper and you can do arm curls
also while you are sitting down hold your legs out while you type. it will be easy at first but see how long you can do it for and then try to beat that time..

Squats, Lunges, tricep dips off your chair or desk, sit-ups, push-ups. If you have access to the internet at work you could look up some routines on youtube. Take some hand weights and you can do all sorts of upper body work.

I hope it goes by fast.

Working nights is horrible. I am working 3 to 11 and 5 to 11 and it throws me off. Today I stayed in bed till noon just so I could keep my eating on a "normal" routine.
  • I work from 4pm to 1230am at a hospital. I usually am in my office but I tend to use the stairs as my form of excerise; at least, while I am at work. I walk from the lower basement to the 5th floor in the stairwell up and down a few times. I do my dumbbell workouts at home. I also do my weighted vest squats at home, I suppose you could do weighted vest squats in an office. I unfortunatly get very little sleep though. I get home around 1am, sleep until 5:30-6:00am so I can get up to take my wife to work, get home and get my older child on the school bus then do my work out, try and nap for an hour or two. Then I wake up, feed my younger child lunch then I eat my lunch, and then do another workout, followed by going to pick my wife up from work so I can go to work myself.

eating is hard to work around night shifts. Im just casual, so i can never have a normal routine, which is really hard when trying to diet.
I never know what im walking into at work, like tonight it was crazy busy, so I ate two clementines, and thats it.. but other nights when its slow, i want to eat more.
Its hard to get a routine going.
And then depending how much I sleep when I get off depends on that days eating.
shift work is horrid for diets. hah

I'm really dreading all of this.... I start swing shift / rotating shifts tomorrow night. 3 weeks of midnights, 3 weeks of days and 2 weeks of second shift.... ugh with no pattern to the days off. Idk what I'm going to do but I have to make this work. Good luck to you!

Personally I look forward to evening/night shifts. I generally work them in the summer and drop 20lbs in a month. Unfortunately in the winter I gain it all back.

Hand weights or resistance bands are quiet. Won't get the blood pumping but it's something. I agree with silent step-ups on paper reems or maybe look into getting one of those little bicycle jobs that sits on the floor that you can pedal away on. If breaks are allowed, use them to walk if you can. Normally I munch my dinner as I work and save my breaks for moving around.
