Alright so I have a Sport Line HRM watch. This is the exact model I have

http://www.sportline.com/product.php?prod=76

My question is, how accurate are these HRM that do not require a chest strap? I only ask because my calories are always different! I will get 3 different calories burned between MFP, the machine at the Gym & my HRM. My HRM is ALWAYS the highest & I would love for it to be correct but sometimes I don't think it can be. Today the difference in calories between my HRM & The treadmill at the gym was about 200 calorie difference.

The actual heart rate function seems to work properly & i check my HR on my watch & then on the machine I'm working out on to compare & their usually the same or within 3-5 numbers of each other. I just don't know how accurate the calorie count on this HRM I have is.

I just got one of those exact models yesterday, I am in the testing phase as well. Today the treadmill was 80 calories burned more than the wrist HRM. Strange. Gonna test it tomorrow again.

Go for one with the chest strap. It constantly is taking your heart rate......verses whenever you test yours on the watch. I've had mine since last Feb. and have never looked back. Its worth the extra money!

I had a wrist HRM but I changed to using a chest strap. I HIGHLY suggest going for one with a chest strap. They are much more accurate. If you are concerned about the strap being uncomfortable, dismiss that- you honestly don't feel it at all. I have the Polar ft7 and LOVE it. You can find it any where from $80-110.

generally any HRM is going to be more accurate than a machine or MFP calculation's because it is taking your actual heart rate into consideration while the machine and MFP are just estimations.

Thanks! I have been checking it every 2-3 minutes! I don't know if I am doing it too much or not enough lol! Also in the profile function, is there a way to input your weight? I have my age & sex in there, but wasn't sure if I just wasn't seeing the weight section or if it is not there.
