310 Calories less? Why?

Just curious, I checked in this morning at 230 pounds, and was prompted by MFP to re-evaluate my caloric intake. So, I filled out all of my information as normal, and I was expecting it to go up. It had been at 1510 calories a day.

My new goal? 1200 calories a day. This seems kind of strange, considering my body is getting more active, so wouldn't I need more calories? Just a little confused. Maybe someone can explain this to me?

Edit: Never mind, I was being a dink. I had entered 130 pounds instead of 230

Sorry for being a dink.

Either way, why does MFP have me eating less than more though? I had been at 1510, and now its suggesting 1490.

well you WEIGH less, so your body theoretically needs less to survive. remember you still get to eat all your excercise calories so you'll be eating more than just 1200. if it still sounds too low you can re-evaluate your weight-loss goals (go from say 2lbs per week to 1.5 lbs per week). I've been at 1200 since I started but the amount my goals say I will lose weight from 2lbs a week to 1.7 lbs a week because my body needs less to live, so by eating the same amount I will lose less. does that make any sense?

Same thing happened to me. I believe it has to do with carrying around less weight burns less calories.

But if you're more active it does make sense that you would eat more calories. Enter your excercise each day and that will increase your daily calorie allotment.

And imo, 1200 seems too low. I just couldn't tolerate that as I'd feel hungry all the time. I set my goal at 1/2 lb a week and I get 1,780 calories before excercise. And, I don't feel hungry all the time.

Yeah, I'm thinking 2 lbs a week may be too optimistic soon. Right now I can do it, but usually I eat about 5-6 meals/snacks a day and that just fits at 1510.

If you end up eating those extra 20 calories, I won't tell if you won't

I personally don't think that's out of line :drinker: You can do it
I've been 2.23 per week since Jan 7! You know that men lose more and quicker than women :grumble:
