Very good article. I've noticed that with the womens pants too.

Funny, and totally true! I wear pants around 7s-9s, and in Old Navy, I bought a pair of size 4s! I knew their sizes ran like that, but I gotta admit, it did feet good! lol!

Interesting, and having owned some of those Haggar pants and finding them comfortable during my fatter days, I can believe it. More interesting for me was the next page about suit fitting since most of my suit coats are getting too big for me, I feel like they are swallowing me up. Good article.

This has been going on with women's sizes for decades! Just because you wear a size 14 in one brand does not mean you wear that size in every brand. Welcome to our world, gentlemen!

owch, discovering something like this is a bit of a let down, I read an article last year that the UK size 12 has gotten way bigger in the past 30 years (the now 12 is more like 14-16 of 30 years ago). I'd rather work hard to fit the waistline, not make the waistline fit me.

I have 3 different pairs of size 18 jeans in my closet, 1 is HUGE, 1 is tight, and 1 fits perfectly. I had NO idea this happened in men's pants too! They go by waist size, for goodness sakes!

That's just crazy!!! So my friends that say they wear a size "4" Alfani pants really AREN'T wearing a size "4"?? So I shouldn't be as jealous? Is this what I am understanding? First our food makers lie to us, now the clothing industry has to lie to us so our clothes fit because our 300 calorie meal really has 600 calories in it so now we really need a 36 inch waist pants not 32" pants:grumble:
    What next??
  • Well that's annoying...

We KNEW this was happening with womens' clothing, but I was so shocked it could happen with mens' clothing since their sizes are measurement based. CRAZY that Old Navy can sell a "36" that's actually a 41.

My mom was doing this to my dad for years! She would buy his work pants and cut the tags out. Dad thought he wore size 32 pants forever! When mom got sick and he had to shop for himself, his first purchas was for 38's! She told him they must have changed at the factory..... this was 25 years ago! lol
