Poor little guy. I hope he is better soon. I remember calling my daughter's bluff once and she really was sick, however now she knows I will fall for it and she milks it for all its worth!

You are not a bad mommy. We all go through this, I have sent my daughter to school when I thought she was faking but wasn't.

You are doing an amazing job as a parent. I read your threads and you sound wonderful.

    Keep your chin up!!

    We have all been there...

I once left my son at my older kids preschool. My best friend and I were having a garage sell so I took the kids to preschool while she manned the yard sale. When I got back, the preschool teacher calls me and said, did you forget something...OMG!!! I forgot Cody (he was 2 1/2).
He was so use to going with me when I helped out it was no biggy. He sat right up to the table and was waiting for breakfast to be served LOL!
Thank god we lived in a small community were we all knew each other...too funny!!!
That was my bad mommy award moment! Trust me he will forgive you!

Oh don't worry..I have done that EXACT same thing! When my son was in first grade he kept complaining he didn't feel good . I still took him to school and said "You're fine.." Well the school nurse called saying he was in her office ..( I still thought he was faking...because getting out of class to go to the nurse was common for my son and his friends) Sooo big shot mom here made a dr appointment to knock some sense into him when she says he is fine..... that backfired when the Strep test came back positve. WHOOPS!

Well as you can see you are not alone in this one sweetie!!! Nobody ever writes about these things in the What to Expect....books...

You are not a rotten mom at all!! they are just little manipulative monsters!! (Just kidding!)
  • Thanks everyone :flowerforyou: . Lol Im sittin here thinking I should have known better than to send him , he isn't a complainer at all. The kid had strep really badly once and we didnt even know until it was so bad he couldnt even swallow water and we ended up in the ER. So when he finally says he hurts, he really hurts. He threw me off by first saying he didnt WANT to go to school. And I had so many errands and so much running around to do today. I thought oh boy I just do not have time for the faking and shinanagins. Aww well live and learn. He's cuddled on my lap so he cant be too upset with me lol

been there done that! It's hard to know for sure when they aren't running a fever or something more obvious. My rotten mommy award was last year during my daughter's soccer game. She took a ball to the hand (she was goalie) and the coach sent her over because he heard it hit. So anyway, I told her that it was part of the game and she should get used to it, suck it up and get back out there to play. Weeeell, 24 hours later we were in the ER for x-rays, and sure enough, she busted it. :noway:   Talk about feeling bad..... :embarassed: We laugh now.....

That reminded me.....Grade 8, I hated school and at least once a week I faked sick. So one morning, I pretended that I lost my voice, my wise old mother played along for awhile, then brought me in the phone pretending someone called for me. Me, completely not as wise as my mother takes it from her
"hello" I say into the phone loud and clear:grumble: Two can play at your games, and mom will always win is what she said to me! Needless to say, I went to school that day!

Don't feel bad, Blazin' I've sent my kids to school sick before too, thinking they were faking!!

oh, yeah, all good mommies have their days. My mom made me walk for a week on a broken leg when I was 5! :ohwell: I could walk okay, but every time I jarred it by jumping or something, I would cry until I passed out! She figured, after a week of that, something MUST be wrong!

I told my daughter to get back in her soccer game and play even though her knee hurt. I thought she was just tired of playing. She did...turned out she had a torn ligament. :embarassed:

    So, yeah. It happens!

My Mom did that to me and my daughter did this as well, YOU ARE NOT A ROTTEN MOM!
You are a NORMAL Mom! We expect our kids to do this every so often.
I have DRs here that have done this as well so If a DR can not tell by looking if this is real of fake. HOW do YOU expect to be able to??!!??
Chill we have all been there dear!
I do hope that he feels better soon.

Oh and MY ROTTEN MOM AWARD is worse then THAT!!!
My daughter (3 at the time 19 now) fell out of a swing, And by this I mean that she fell over after the swing was stopped. NOT when it was flying up in the air. She was standing UP from a stopped sitting position when she tripped and fell.
She was a little whimpery and there was a small scrape on her elbow, I stuck a band aid on it but she kept tellink me that her neck hurt.
I told her it was nothing that it would go away. I fed her an asprin and went off to work and left her with my mom.
Then I got a call shortly afterwords that she looked at my daughters neck and shoulder it was turning black and blue. So she took Erin up to the family Dr that we had for years and GUESS WHAT??
    Erin had a Broken collarbone.
I felt SO bad I wanted to die.
That said, Sending a sick child to school is REALLY not that big a deal.

Why do women, especially moms, always take on all the guilt themselves?? I just don't understand it. You may have DONE what you perceived to be a rotten thing. That doesn't MAKE you a rotten mom. You are a good mom who made a teeny tiny judgement call that went the wrong way in this case. How many ****millions**** of GOOD THINGS do you do every day for your son that nobody even notices..? How many RIGHT decisions do you make every day, day in and day out that are good for his welfare?

Not trying to get all up on my high horse...I just don't like when I hear someone beat themselves up. It's hard enough, isn't it?

Aw sweetie, kids are always "fibbing" so we can never tell when they're telling the truth!
Well, sometimes. I can tell when my girl is lying but it's kinda hard to read her when she's telling the truth... hmm :ohwell:

Don't worry I think we all have done that one...I think my mom wins that award, I had walking pneumonia 3 times in a year and a half. I cought so hard my mom's friends asked if we had gotten a german shepard... and yes I went to school each time till the teacher got mad and told my mom to keep me home when I was 'barking"
    I still love her:heart:

OH man, just thinking about this makes me want to cry!!

When my son was just a few months old, I had put him to bed..and it was around the time where we were transitioning him from our room/bassinet to his own room/crib...so when he was crying this one night, I was trying to "be strong and ignore it" as long as possible..like we are told to do!!

So, finally, after him frantically crying for a decent amount of time, I couldn't take it anymore and went in..and my poor little man!! He had sat up and was trying to reach each arm through the side of the crib to get something, but he wasn't strong enough or had the leverage to push himself back in...cause his arms were both through the slats....and his cheek was mushed onto the side of the crib and he was just stuck!..and he was frantic and terrified!! Poor baby!!!!!!!

    I felt SOOOO BAD!!!!!!!!!!
  • Awww Tam, thats so hard. When Sky was a baby I had him sleeping on my chest/belly and I feel asleep. He picked this time to learn to roll in his sleep rolled right off me and off the bed. He screamed and screamed and thought I'd half killed him

yep done that one my son was realy stuck poor boy took us 15 min to get him to twist his foot in a way to get out thought we would have to break the cot.
then my daughter was trying to get out of the trolly at the clothes store and seh went between teh seat part and the handle lets say she was very very stuck hanging there worse thing is no one stoped for ages to help me

but i think my mom might beat you lol she sent me to school with whooping cough which can be very seriouse ( i wasnt imunised because of a complication at birth i couldnt have it ) so i was sent to school and mom hand no idea it was so contagouse so school by day and whooping by night we laugh about it now.
