I started on my new weight loss journey on 10/30/10. First month I lost 10 lbs. Second month I lost 10 lbs. Third month was horrible! I loose 5 lbs, then gain 7 back! Then I loose them again. I FINALLY broke a huge milestone for myself, and I keep climbing back up to it, dangerously close. I’m doing nothing different than I was doing during month one and month two. Why am I stuck in this third month? I count my calories, I hit the gym every day, I rotate my workouts, and I work with a trainer once or twice a week. But I just cannot get passed this hump! I still have 142 lbs to loose, and at the rate I’m going this month, I’ll NEVER get there!!! Any word of advices? Help! I’m getting so frustrated, where it’s so much easier to give up and eat than to actually put more work into it! Especially since I’m already working so hard at it!

Dont give up!!! Do you need to adjust your calories for your work outs, have you always been doing the same amount of workouts for the same amount of time? Maybe that needs adjusting? Anyway dont give up!! Look what you have done so far its great!!!

You said it yourself. "I'm not doing anything different than I did in month one and two." Switch it up hun! Your body gets adjusted to your workouts and foods, add cals or change your workouts. You need to keep your body suprised. You'll also be suprised as the scale cooperates. Congrats on the loss, and good luck with the rest!!
  • I was at a plateau for 5 weeks, gain a couple. lose a couple. I ended up completely changing my workouts last week and tried calorie cycling. Vary the amount of calories you eat each day so that your body doesn't get used to eating the exact same amount! It seemed to work because on Saturday I broke my plateau weight!

Have you measured yourself, like your hips, waist, chest, etc? Sometimes progress isn't always shown on the scale, you could becoming physically leaner with muscle weight instead of fat (since muscle weighs more), so you just might be losing inches instead of pounds!

don't let this discourage you and as you say, just give up and eat. you've done really well and that's a sign you can do it again and keep at it. i think you might need to be readjusting your food intake or you may have to be pushing yourself harder at the gym. what does your trainer think? even though you're rotating your workouts- are you trying completely new workouts too? im no expert but your body gets to a point where it gets used to something, and you stop seeing results. even if it wasn't to lose weight and just to gain muscle, if you're not increasing your weights every so often, the body isn't being pushed more and you won't see more muscle growth. try adding one day a week some extreme work out, but don't kill yourself!! just increase the challenge over time. let us know how you're doing!
