Which meal supplement drinks are the bast? I need one that I can get at a grocery store. My big question is this. Don't they all have more than a day's sugar in them? I need them to get more calories in a day, but I know cutting sugar is important, too... help? Lol

I sometimes use Walker Diet Meal Replacement Shakes if I need some extra calories or something filling after a workout. They are really, really low in carbs and sugar but really, really high in protein, fiber, and vitamins and minerals. I get it from vitacost.com- pretty reasonable. Good luck!
  • Hey if you're from the UK you can have your doctor prescribe you Fortisip milkshakes & fruit juices from the NHS. I had them but hated the taste of them, there's a loud of different flavours. I know the ones I had everything in them, including sugar. They're very high in iron. I'm sure if you speak to your doctor, they could sort something out for your needs :). Hope you find what you want <3

Could you buy a protein powder and make your own? I buy whey protein that has no additives, flavours or sweetneners and mix it up with almond milk, spinach (yes, really ... you don't taste it) and fruit. You can also add a banana to it.

I like the plain best because I can flavour it up any way I wish.

Does it have calories when you buy it with no additive? If so, how many? And where do you get it?
  • I need one that's sold in a grocery store. I'm out of a job and have to use food stamps right now, unfortunately. I know special k is supposed to have a lot of good products, but I've heard they're very high in sugars...
  • I drink a lot of milkshakes, gave up on the prescribed ones. How about drink a few glasses of full fat milk a day? I do that.

I make my own. ( started juicing last year). I do 3 cups of spinach( you dont taste it), 11/2 cups strawberries, 2 cups blueberries, 2 bananas, 2 cups almond milk, 1 tbsp agave total 545 calories for 64 oz. have 2 to 3 20oz shakes a day. Sometimes I add carrots, sometimes I try other funky combos but this is my go to. It does show high sugar but I lost 40 lbs last year so it is working- And last year I was not exercising at all.

You can buy protien powders in the grocery stores,,,, at least here in the USA, never shopped in the UK before. Make your own, that way you can control what you put in it, use honey instead of sugar, or stevia, or none at all.
