Fructose problem?

I have fructose malabsorption, which basically means that if I eat more fructose then glucose my intestines get bloated and painful and I get tired and nauseous. I used to eat tons of fruits and vegetables, and I am having trouble finding a good way to get a good substitute for these, in terms of fullness and low calories. I also am limited in whole grains, but I still always manage to get enough fiber in. This also means I can't have high fructose corn syrup or brown sugar, so almost all granola bars are out. Does anyone else struggle with a sugar intolerance or just hate produce and know of good substitutes? I am getting all the nutrients, I am just missing the filling, low cal snack that fruit provided.

I never thought of Fruit as low-calorie or filling. I tend to find it to be the opposite.

Anyway, I'm a big fan of:
    unblanched almonds
    cheddar cheese
    carrots

I find that the almonds or cheese, despite the low volume and higher calories, are more satisfying than fruit. I have to set portions carefully, though. I could eat half a pound a cheese without noticing. So, I cut my one ounce and put the block of cheese away.

Half of my lunch these days is 3/8 Cup of dry nuts--one third each of peanuts, walnuts, and almonds. I find it to hold me for a good 3 hours before getting hungry again. (I have a desk job. I don't get to move much.)
