Hi all,

I've heard about this Lean Cuisine diet?
What does it consist of? (besides Lean Cuisines, obviously)
Advantages? Disadvantages? Directions?
Have any of you tried it?

Thanks!!! I've been curious

Off the back its processed food. Low in nutrients and high in sodium.

Well, I sorta do this but unintenionally, since I know exactly how many calories, etc. is in each. Mostly for lunch at work during the day... but I would think it's probably not the healthiest thing to live off these since it's better to get whole fruits, veggies and lean protein. I didn't know it was an actual "diet" ...
  • They are tasty and not horrible, but I try to avoid frozen prepacked meals and aim for something fresh
I wouldn't suggest eating them more than 2 times a week

never heard of it. Um... I guess it would work in theory. I like home cooking more... less crazy stuff in my food that way

    Haters gonna hate ...

But don't let them dissuade you. There are healthy Lean Cuisine choices out there.

Look into the Spa Classics line.

I augment them with frozen vegetables for a more filling and nutritious meal.

I didn't know it was an actual diet either, but I can see it being convenient and I liked the variety, for lunch I would take a bunch and put them in the freezer so I could have a choice like-what do I feel like having today?
I liked the pizza and lasagna, the butternut squash ravioli,
but I got tired of them after awhile, lately I have been bringing soup or leftovers from dinner.

They are fine every once in a while as a really easy meal, but they are high in sodium. I wouldn't eat more than a few a week.
  • Oh, hmm.
I used to eat them as a snack, it was pretty bad. But there ARE some other brands of prepackaged meals which are super healthy but a little less common. The thing I love about lean cuisines is that they are pre portioned and have the exact number of calories.

I really enjoy lean cuisines once in a while, maybe like 1-2 a week....I don't know of the actual lean cuisine diet but I wouldn't want to eat 1 a day (or more?) personally because more fresh non processed foods are wayyy healthier for you and I think a huge part of weight loss / healthy eating habits is learning how to navigate thru bad choices or excess and get the proper portion sizes and the right nutritious stuff. lean cuisines kinda take that away imo if thats "all" you're eating

I used to eat those things all the time, but the sodium is too high for me since I am trying to watch it at the moment. But since I guess it is simple, easy, and you know the calories in them, the diet might work for some people, but it might not be the greatest for your body.
  • I have them every so often, good for a quick meal, But I would be a lil too nervous doin it all the time cause of the sodium, Check into some steamed veggies, quick and yummy as well!

I just came off a stint of eating the Ginger Garlic Stir Fry with Chicken almost every single day for lunch and dinner for weeks on end, and rarely, if ever, did I exceed my sodium allowance for the day.

Not only did I not die ... I continued to lose weight.

    What makes them super healthy?
  • Well they have no preservatives and very low sodium for a frozen meal.
They have healthy choices such as grilled chicken with quinoa and vegetables, which are feeling and not too high in fat/sugar
