Hi everyone. I started with my fitness pal last week but am in my 4th week of dieting. Has anyone else got experience of dieting with allergies? I am trying to follow a low GI/low carb diet but a lot of wheat free pasta and bread is high GI! Anyone got any good tips? I can't have milk either so take calcium tablets. Are there any other foods rich in calcium?

I have followed a low GI plan myself and am lactose intolerant so am always looking for ways to add calcium. I have found the following non-dairy items are higher that some foods so have worked to add those

Sesame seeds (sprinkle in my salad or on my chicken breasts before baking)
Broccoli (I have steamed at least 2-3 times per week)
Kale, Spinach, Swiss Chard, collard greens
Tahini (in hummus which I love)
Brazil Nuts (I get an unsalted mixed nuts bag including these)
    celery
    oranges
    almonds
flax seed (throw this in all my baking and in oatmeal)

I also do take a suppliment with vitamin D included as the "D" helps to absorb more of the calcium than if you just took it by itself.

I would try to avoid pasta and bread in general. I'm not gluten-free, and even with the regular stuff I'm finding that I need to cut way back on my breads and pastas because they're so high in calories and they don't make me feel good. Try to ramp up the protein instead of eating the carbs.

Also, with the ticker it gives you two codes. You need to use the BBCode instead of the HTML. I had the wrong one at first too.

Thanks everyone...I'm there with the ticker! Hurrah!

I'm trying not to eat carbs and either eating a sandwich for lunch or a small portion of pasta in the evening. I am exercising 3 times a week so trying to keep up the protein. Is it possible to have a diet with no carbs or should it just be low carbs?
