Donating blood

If anyone donates blood do you just say "eh gotta eat or drink a few extra calories that day" or do you try and cut them out somewhere else? I NEED the juice after donating or I'll get really woozy but I hate to cut out stuff for that. I figure if I'm a pint down my body will be working over time anyhow.

I usually work out in the evening and already bumming that I need to make sure I take it really easy tonight on that so I don't pass out LOL.

Last I read, the # for extra calories associated with donating blood was over 600. However, I think that would be over the next couple days as your body is working harder to replace the lost blood.

I say eat as you normally would without exercising and don't worry about the juice and snack after donating.

Oh, and thank you!! I try to give blood every two months when we have drives set up at my work. I missed the last one as I was sick, but it is a great service that we can do this!
  • here is a thread from when i posted the same topic a little while back.
    hope this helps.
