Lowering suger?

So my recommended sugar intake is 29 and I've already gone over by 15. I eat fruits, which I know has sugar, and I eat yogurt (usually just plain mixed with the fruit). Is 29 really a realistic number to have? Or did MFP just throw that out there.
I'm not sure what I could eat to get less sugar. I LOVE fruits, I don't want to give those up.

And for some reason I spelled sugar wrong...wow, I wonder how many people will enjoy that? haha!0

This is so frustrating! I'm always over on my sugar by like 20-40. I eat lots of fruit too but I was also wondering if MFP is suggesting too low of sugar intake.0

The natural sugars found in fruit don't count toward the sugar column. That is added sugar. I count natural sugars towards carbs.0

Interesting never till now did I check on my sugar intake and I have ALWAYS been over it. Go figure LOL!!!!0

I have the same problem I do not think that I have been below the limit once again because of fruit like you guys I guess we can think of that sugar as good sugar.0

I am always come in at 25 on my sugar, sometimes a bit lower. I am on a great plan though that gives me awesome balance between carbs/protein/sugar/fat. It works for me.0

If it's from natural sources like fruits etc, I wouldn't worry too much about it.
I looked at your diary for today, and that yogurt is what killed you with the 17g of sugar. Low-fat stuff tends to be higher in sugar to 'compensate' for the taste that goes from removing the fat. Maybe try sugar free yogurt?0 -
It's interesting because I have exactly the same problem. I have 1 apple and a small bowl of muesli and my sugar is over! According to the lovely Nutrition Diva (find her on Quick and Dirty Tips dot com if you're interested!) your total sugar should be something like 10% of total calories or less. There's a podcast here: http://nutritiondiva.quickanddirtytips.com/how-sugar-affects-your-body.aspx
That would mean that I could take 140 cals of sugar which ain't much. Not quite sure what to do about it yet either.
Oh, and if anyone looks at my diary for today - yeah, I know, cake!!!! It was a rare day tho.0 -
Yeah, the yogurt does get me.0

If it's sugar from fruit and Yogurt i wouldn't stress about it to much, Now if your eating candy all day then Yes i would worry about it. Lol.!!!!!!0
