Cheat Day Remorse - Evil Biscuit Episode I

So, normally on the "other" logging site I used before MFP, I didn't usually log Fridays, which are my cheat days...because I didn't want to see it..now, I don't go hog wild (usually) on Fridays, I just have stuff I wouldn't have any other day of the week....Starbucks in the morning (nonfat no whip of course), some take-out for lunch or dinner....my normal for Friday breakfast is a sausage/egg/cheese biscuit from McDonald's...I know, it's bad....I get the biscuit/carb association, not to mention the fat-laden grease-disk that is their "sausage"....but I logged it this morning......530 calories, and 33 GRAMS OF FAT in that one tiny biscuit!!!!

No more....that's the last biscuit I eat from there for my normal Friday morning ritual....

Ughhhhhh.......

And I thought well then I'm not gonna go hog wild for lunch.....a sandwich on wheat from subways or quizno's.....Quizno's as I see from the menu, is a joke...great sandwiches, but some of their large sandwiches are over 70 GRAMS of fat!!!!!!!

I've settled on a Subway club on wheat with mustard only, no mayo....10 grams of fat total...that I can live with :)

That's ok, the 45 minutes of Elliptical tonight at the gym will make me feel a bit better!

I think it's great that you've decided to log-in your cheat days. When I did cheat days, I basically had stuff that I wouldn't normally have throughout the week - like you said.

Example: pasta or sandwhiches or sweet potatoes in the oven with sugarfree ketchup... MMMMM!

I guess cheat days change when you realize the amount of FAT some of our favourite snacks/food has... I've been trying to convince many of my friends to try this site out - just to know what they're putting into their body.

    :drinker:
  • When I first started on this site, I went in and put in some of my common lunches before my lifestyle change and WOW. The fat and calories were mind blowing....
I set mini goals and I am about to hit my first mini goal and I said I would have a cheat meal but I don't know if I want it or not, becuase I will feel so bad after!!!
Way to go that you still logged those days!! Keep up the awesome work!
  • Absolutely, I agree.....today was a good example, I'm gonna log every day regardless now :)

BTW, you look great!! Good job!! :)

It's no wonder right?? Unbelievable the things we've eaten!

    And thank you! :)

How about instead of a cheat DAY just have a CHEAT meal. If you are working out hard all week you don't want to slow progress by making poor choices for an entire day.

I've considered that, I'm still early in my journey so to make sure I don't completely fall off the wagon I'm doing cheat days...in moderation of course....but yes, eventually it's going to change to just a cheat meal :)

For what it's worth, you could create a less evil version of the infamous McMuffin as follows:

Use a sandwich thin ( 100 calories) instead of an English Muffin; fry yourself an overeasy egg w/non stick spray, or add a splash of water in the pan. Pass on the cheese, or try a reduced fat option. Use turkey or chicken sausage, instead of pork. You will find that it tastes even better after you post it and see how many calories and fat grams you saved.

    Good luck.,

Sounds good to me!! I have a biscuit addiction (the southern boy comin' through again)....but English Muffins are great too :) Thanks for the idea!
