Hi ya'll Hope you can give some advice. I have been on a low carb - high protien diet and have found myself at a standstill - right out of the gates. I have been doing this diet for about a week and actually gained the initial weight I lost - back. It is like my metabolism is stuck! I am drinking more water, eating more calories and excercising. I had a baby 9 mths ago and am trying to get off this last 20 lbs - yes, last 20lbs! I gained almost 60, but haven't really done anything to lose the first 40. Afraid to add more carbs into my diet in fear of what will happen now.

If you do add more carbs, make them natural carbs from fruits and veggies. I follow a primal diet so I am high protein too. I have found that when I add in too many carbs from sugary things I gain right away (fluid) I also watch calories though, too many and I gain. I've eatent his way for more than 6 months, lost more than 50 lbs and can tell you that you just have to stick with it and find the right balance. The sweet spot for me is around 1200 cals, 100-120g of prot, and no more than 60g carbs. Hope that helps :)
  • It's all about balance. Just because you are eating less carbs doesn't give one the license to eat all the protein you can! (not saying you are of course). I've been on a low carb diet for about a month....BUT I don't eat processed food or refined sugar or flour of ANY kind....it can pack on the weight you know. Eat healthy carbs, fruit (limit these),low carb veggies (not potatoes). Eat chicken, fish, shrimp, very lean beef or pork (I'm not eating beef or pork for 40 days to clean out my system). It is very difficult at first to eliminate anything processed or refined because of the American diet, but it can be done. Since I've been off of it for 31 days I have lost the craving for that stuff (no cheating, then you have to start all over). It must be a lifestyle change. I have discovered this after a lifetime of battling my weight! Your body wasn't designed to eat processed and refined foods....you will also FEEL BETTER. I have lost 23 lbs in 31 days....I'm eating, drinking lots of water. Although I may have more to lose than you do so it comes off me faster, you will lose! Take the die out of diet! Oh yeah, and pray A LOT! I do! Best wishes to you!
  • Thank you soooo much for taking the time to reply. I am certain that I am doing exactly what has been posted, so I will just keep focused and eat well and excercise. I will see in a week or two if I am experiencing the same result and then change things up. Thinking of maybe eating more often (mini meals) and getting excercise in every single day.
  • YES!!!! Eat all day!!! That's what my super skinny friends do! Just watch the calorie and carb intake! You can do it!
