If you have negative net calories it means that you have burned more calories than you have consumed.0

Actually I know what you're talking about. It does that for me also and I know I'm not in the negative with my calories...Far from it. I think its a website glitch.0

A minus and numbers in red means you ate more than your goal.0 -
you need to give us the numbers hun. Can't really comment without them. What does eating back 'some' of them mean?? :flowerforyou:0

If you have negative numbers, you ate over your calories and ate your workout. Hon, you gained a pound, because you are eating too much. To maintain you eat your calories you burn. If you want to lose, the rule is...calories in/calories out. Eat the net cals but don't eat your workout calories. I know mfp says too, but, if you eat your workout calories....then what is the point of working out to lose weight? If you eat your workout calories, you will only maintain or gain. Sorry, but don't eat more. Eat your net calories, and burn your calories from working out and don't eat your workout calories if you want to lose. Hope this makes sense.0

A. You have to eat 3500 calories over your maintenance calories in order to gain a real pound.
B. Eating exercise calories will not cause you to maintain or gain weight. MFP already gives you a caloric deficit in your daily calorie goal. Eating exercise calories replaces the cals you burn so that your body gets the nutrition it needs.0 -
There is definitely a glitch with the website that many have noted. In my reports when I look at the week view it shows a negative net calories even when my diary shows I had a net positive calories. Mine seems to work properly when I display a month view in reports.0

Ok, so if your minimum is 1500 and you burn 300 thats 1800 you need to eat. But if you only eat 1650 you are 150 short, so your net will be 1350, which is below your base. Your net will always be below if you dont eat back all 1500 plus your exercise cals.
It's the same with me. My base is 1200. So if I exercise I need to eat all my exercise cals to reach a positive net, which rarely happens.
Makes sense?

Yay! Someone read my reply. It has nothing to do with your eating goals, if you are maintaining a healthy deficit day to day with exercise and dieting. Its a glitch. My report says I ate negative 500 calories last Sat and no calories on Sunday and I didn't lol. Its a glitch0 -

Sorry, this is incorrect! The deficit to lose weight is already calcuatated BEFORE you see the numbers in your diary. So when it says eat 1500 minimum its already taken off 500 cals per day (to lose 1lb week) to get to that number. Therefore if you dont eat your exercise calories (say 300) you are going to be the 500 plus the 300 exercise cals in deficit, which is why your net is negative.0
