Kick Start - But how

I've been away for 2.5 months and coming back to reality has also made room for the reality of a 3kg (6.6lbs) weight gain. I've gone from being happy with my figure to being ashamed.
But now I'm making the effort to get back on the straight and narrow.
The Question: I just want to loose thees pounds that I put on ASAP!! Do I just stick to a food plan or Cabbage Soup diet/crash diet (yes, I know all - crash dieting)
Knowing this is just to get back to my preholiday weight.
If anyone has been in my shoes - how have you kick started your weight loss?
Thanks in advance.

Do a weeks worth of South Beach just to kick the sugar cravings, then follow calorie reduction on MFP.
You don't want to be messing up your metabolism too much
Welcome back on the wagon! :flowerforyou:0 -
Just googled South Beach - ahah, not friendly for the vegetarians!
Trying to get the junk food out, but it's sneaking in there :P0 -
What about Slimfast or Cambridge to kickstart you but not the total meal replacement still have a healthy tea.0

This is how I did it:
I told myself I wasn't going to eat ANYTHING I knew was not good for me. Cold turkey on all junk. Did that for about two months, then my tastes and cravings had changed enough that I could reintroduce small treats and keep losing weight.0 -
I think Cold Turkey wold be a wonderful idea! Haha, I don't think my willpower is strong enough to do it on ALL junk! I think I might try that with the exception to one meal a week. I have a friend over or go to my parents or go out for a meal once a week, so if I can make healthy choices for that one meal a week and otherwise be very strict... I'd be happy.0

It takes enormous willpower. I didn't think I had it either. The biggest thing that helped me was telling my family members (the ones I lived with), my older students, and my closest coworkers exactly what I was doing and asked them to keep me on track. A couple people were especially good -- one of the senior students literally (but gently) took candy out of my hands more than once during the first week, and the kindergarten teacher, who would usually share her Cheez-Its, actually began bringing in snap peas for me instead!
If you see people around you care enough, you care more too.0
