calf strain or worse?

I was doing dance central on the Kinect about 2 weeks ago and when I stepped to the side I felt a sharp pain in my calf. It hurt to walk but standing on it was alright. I have had pain in that calf muscle when walking for 2 weeks now. I have still been doing my elliptical running and it doesn't hurt at all when doing that but yesterday I ran like 5 steps to catch a door at work and afterwards I could barely walk on it.
I know that I need to go see a doctor and I already have my yearly physical scheduled for next week but I was just wondering what everyone thinks that I might have done and if I should stop doing my elliptical since I am having no pain at all when doing that.

The a absence of pain doesn't mean there is no danger.
Though, I must admit that my personal standards for safety are very lax. I have been weight lifting with a broken finger for three weeks now, for example. Personally, I would stay on the elliptical.

Maybe, give it a week's rest? If it doesn't work see a dr?0
