I am starting a resistance movement! I am about to go to a superbowl party with potato salad, ribs, alcohol, desserts, sweet rolls, potato chips and other assorted evils.

I will NOT be overcome. I will RESIST. I WILL NOT overdo it and blow my calories for the week. I will not be disappointed in myself when I weigh in tomorrow.

Who's with me?

It's the reason I put on TIGHT jeans! There's only so much I'm going to be able to eat today!

Deprivation is not my approach. I may not know how many calories I'm eating, though I'd say I'd have a pretty good chance of being able to very roughly guesstimate. I would allow myself one plate of the goodies and a cup of whatever beverage I chose, then focus on the game.

It's all about enjoying life, not depriving yourself of the joy of it.

I have to go for the deprivation......In my previous obese life, that is what got me in trouble----I could not stop at one taste, so now I have learned to not even taste it, therefore, I don't know what I am missing.
  • Agreed!!! Except my Resistance Movement will be Date night!!!

I'm bringing my knitting with me to keep my hands busy and hands off the food/drinks! I'm also going to eat a substantial snack before heading out and bring a bottle of red wine to help me avoid the beer!

Good luck MPFers, and Go Pack! :drinker:

have 2000 calories left for the day and I am staying home in my own home with my own food .... We will have a little fun but stay on task for sure .....

    LETS GO STEELERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  • i made healthy stuff for me, and crappy for everyone else. Good luck
  • I gotta go with the idea that I can manage to enjoy the game tonight and not beat myself up for it later. I made spinach dip bread bowl for the party but I am also taking celery and carrots to dip for myself and the others who are watching calories. I know that our group will have a mix of healthy and not so healthy snacks. I will eat and drink what I want- not to excess though. I have been well behaved this week and way under my daily allowances- this will not be the end for me, but I do intend to enjoy myself. Go Steelers!

It's one night. I exercise everyday, count calories every day, from sun up til sun down. I will not overdo it tonight, but I am not counting calories, I will enjoy myself and cut a few extra calories the rest of the week and add 15 minutes to my exercise regimen. I am also not into total deprivation.
  • LOVE the tight pants idea!

I'm drinking blueberry seltzer all night and maybe dipping some celery sticks in buffy sauce.

Right! I have over 1300 calories left for the day. I'm going to try to keep my sodium under control, have a few goodies, and have a good time with my friends! :)

No party= no tempting snacks tonight. If i did go, i don't think I would have the will power to stay away..going through the holidays was enough for me and finally going down the right path. All im having tonight is a steak burger and a bowl of spinach (400 calories easily fit into my allowance). I'm snacking on yogurt, having a cup of coffee..I am good. Have fun tonight! Make wise cjpics if you can..if you feel deprived, its not a bad idea to have one plate..or have a few snacks.

I went to the gym this morning and did 1 hour of group power and 35 min of running. I think I'll be okay if I make my usual party choices -- a little indulgence and a lot of healthy stuff.

    Oh and GO PACKERS!

I'll be ready for kickoff with what I have for EVERY football game during the NFL season: a 22-oz bottle of water (or two!), some crispy veggies and hummus, popcorn, and lean and spicy baked chicken fingers.
  • I'm counting my calories and made a lot of healthier choices in my cooking today. If I go over, I go over- if I don't have some goodies every once in a while I will eventually gorge and not stop. I also made sure I exercised today- and I skipped breakfast.
  • How did we do, folks?

I was not promoting deprivation as much as moderation for me--if I'm left alone with a jar of cheese dip and a bag of chips, I'm toast.

My goal was to not overdo it--so I had to count calories. I clocked in at only 110 calories over my daily limit. I enjoyed a moderate portion of bbq ribs, a handful of chips, two tablespoons of cheese dip, a healthy glass of wine, and a wonderful serving of cherry pie ala mode. I didn't overeat. I was mindful of, and enjoying the food I did eat (the dessert was amazing after 5 weeks of dieting).

What I wanted to avoid was sitting on the couch with a bowlful of junk food and mindlessly stuffing my face--not even tasting the calories. I succeeded, so YAY me. I do not dread tomorrow's weigh in, but it might take a day to work out the extra sodium I had tonight.

Congratulations to those of you who also met your personal Super Bowl Resistance goal.

I managed to stay under. The gym was very very crowded before the game lol. I had to go with abstinence for this one. I would have easily justified eating things had they been in front of my. Those smells wafting over me.
