Do the couch to 5K. They start you running at 2 min intervervals. It's the couch to 5K for beginners.

check out C25K.com (couch to 5K); I think the training schedule on there would get you up to about one mile by March 1st!
Good luck--train hard and I'm sure you'll pass with flying colors0 -
You might want to try the Couch-to-5k program. Depending on your starting level you could get up to that time. If you are using a treadmill just work on the speed control there. (Just google Couch-to-5k or C25k. There are iphone apps & android apps plus ones you can just put on a podcast/mp3 player).0

Best advice I ever got for running was to never out run your breathing... run slow enough to be able to keep a conversation going no matter how slow. a really slow jog at 5mph is a really good starting place. If you lose your breath walk until you regain your breath then start jogging again. You will build up your endurance fairly quickly. Hope that helps.0

couch to 5 k. and start yesterday. No one sucks at running. you just have to build up endurance - both physical endurance and patience - with yourself.

Oh--you could also check out Hal Higdon's website (just google his name); same starting idea as c25k, but I think he's got some books and pamphlets you can purchase that might be more specific to what you're doing.0

I agree, C25K is great! I am on my 4th week of the program and I am really surprised how much longer I can run now. It's a nine week program though, so you'd only be about halfway through on March 1st.0
