Does anyone else have this problem? I have kicked up my exercise as I am currently training to walk a Marathon. On the days that I rest and dont do the walking I am retaining water in my feet , ankles and legs. I have never had this happen before. I drink plenty of water everyday so I know that I am not dehydrating myself at all. On saturday I walked a half marathon. I took yesterday and today off to recover and today I have the swollen feet, ankles and legs. I also weigh in at about 4 pounds more than I did the day of the half marathon.

Just looking for a solution to this problem! It is frustrating as we all know to see that scale go up, even if we know that it is water weight gain!

  • You should follow up with your doctor. Fluid retention can be signs of medical conditions. Are you eating a lot of salty foods?

Are you sitting a lot on those days? I have that problem if I sit a lot on the computer, its something my grandmother had problems with too. There are a couple things you can do.
    1) elevate your legs abouve your heart
    2) eat low sodium on those days
    3) do some toning exercises ( stand behind a chair and lift yourself up on your toes... repeat)
    4) find compression hose and wear them
If it is only one leg, I would check with my doctor. I hope this helps, mine get worse in the summer time when it is muggy outside.
    Good luck:drinker:
