Pasta question

Hey everyone,

I am little confused about the pasta values?

150g of cooked wholemeal pasta is 170 cals - does anyone know how many grammes this would be uncooked?

1 cup of Spaghetti is 140 cals. I assume this would be cooked?

40g of wholemeal pasta (uncooked) is a whopping 245 calories. So I assume that when cooked it will be 250g +?

I am not sure whether to weigh my cooked or uncooked pasta

    Hi,

I can't do the conversions, I'm afraid. But I always weigh my pasta uncooked. I find that 60g uncooked is a really really good portion. For the pasta I use, the info on the pack makes that 190 cals.

I do the same with rice, btw. It just makes it easier for me anyway.

Yeah, I always measure out the amount of uncooked pasta and search for the specific brand I'm using on the database.
  • Always wiegh the pasta uncooked. The water it soaks up is too unreliable to wiegh out each time. I usually eat angel hair. 2 ounces is about 210 calories and usually is just the right amount for me at dinner.

By the way. Trader Joes Turkey Meatballs are the best and only 50 cal each. Add some simple marinara (1/2 cup 60 calories) and it makes a good dinner.
  • look on the back of the pack its the uncooked weight you go for because pasta soaks up water when its cooked 75g of dry will weigh much more cooked dependine on how well done you like it
