I have always said I would never try Slim Fast, but I started it 2 days ago. I am just trying to find something that I will stick to. I don't know how many times this year I have started a plan and quit the same day. I am feeling positive and just wanted some feed back to hear how it has worked for others.

I did slim fast.. I myself hated it.. I LOVE food to much.. but my dad did it and it worked great for him.. It just depends on you and your body... I got really dizzy and felt like crap... but this is how my dad does it... An instant breakfast for breakfast with 2 percent milk... a slim fast fro lunch with an apple and a tv healthy choice for dinner... It worked fast and good for him but its also easy for him cuz his job has him moving all the time.... lol... hes always in meetings... just follow your calories and work day by day with it... see how u feel... thats the best advice i can give GOOD LUCK:bigsmile:0

I would not use it long term. Use it as a meal replacement for ONE meal rather than two. Real food is important, and Slim Fast has a tendency to leave you feeling deprived.0

Thanks for your advice. So far I have had a shake for breakfast, slimfast snack bar for snack, at lunch I have had a Slimfast meal replacement bar along with a half sandwich. Then in afternoon I have had fruit for another snack., sensible dinner, and 100 cal popcorn in the evening. So, far so good. I don't feel deprived yet. I don't want to do it long term, just something to get me started on my weight loss journey.0

I tried the cappucino flavor for a lunch replacement. But I had to quit after a week or so because the smell was coming out of my pores. I smelled like Slim Fast. Maybe try strawberry or vanilla so you don't smell like a cup of coffee0

That is so funny. I love the chocolate.....I wonder how it would be to smell like chocolate all day???0

People would love it. Old coffee on the other hand is not appealing0

what do you think of slim fast? I heard if you do it too long it can damage your kidneys...but who knows if that is true0

When I was in college I tried this. It worked fine when I only used it for breakfast. When I used it for lunch I would feel really tired in the afternoons and cranky. That aside, when I went back to eating those meals, I most definately gained the weight back double.
If you're going to take any diet drinks, meal replacements, ect... please monitor yourself carefully. If you don't feel good, stop. It's just not worth hurting yourself over it.0 -
I tried slimfast, and found that I could stay with it if I had 1 serving of triscuits, or a high fiber food with it.
But, if you try to stick with it, don't take a daily multi-vitamin, because you will be taking way too much of each fat soluble vitamin.0 -
I think what is key is a balanced diet. What I have found over the years of dieting, is that diets dont work. I've done Slim Fast, Adkins,Fat Free, etc..... The key I swear is slow and steady. Eating a balanced diet and exercising. There are no quick fixes. Of couse you might drop the weight quickly on Slim Fast, but I promise you that it will come back just as fast and with some extra pounds with it.
Teach yourself the ways of health, and you will see AMAZING results!:flowerforyou: :flowerforyou: :flowerforyou: :flowerforyou: :flowerforyou: :flowerforyou: :flowerforyou:0 -
i wont got there i want to get into healthier habits for life and i think if i use slimfast it not educatin me to do that ... its almost like a quick fix but then i wd have to still re-educate myself to eat properly so i figured i wd do that from the start0

I tried it once, had the shake for breakfast - then I had breakfast too...
I just think you can get much more for your cals, for example, if you make a big stir fry it's low cal but you get to eat much more food. Plus I would get SO bored with the shakes, bars etc, there's no way I could stick to it.
It might work for a quick weight loss but then you'd still need to learn to eat properly - I just don't think there are any short cuts for learning to eat a healthy, balanced diet combined with exercise.0 -
My friend in Highschool Needed to gain weight for the football team. His coaches suggestion.... Slim Fast.
Instead of replacing a meal with it he had him eatting a meal + the shake. So I guess if you are going to use it follow the directions I wouldnt be having the shake-feeling hungry still-and eating on top of it , or ya may just pack on some pounds :ohwell:0 -
Today I only had a shake for breakfast. I made some good choices for lunch and dinner. I had a slim fast snake muffin bar and a meal bar in my purse but didn't need them today. Maybe if I just carry them around it will just remind me that I need to make good choices or I will have to eat them everyday. I haven't been craving any sweets.....I think because the shake gives me my chocolate fix. I am going to keep taking it day by day and sees what happens. I feel good. Today is my 3rd day that I have not had any Pepsi......I'm feeling good. I think just cutting out the soda alone is a big step and will help aid in my weigh lose. I can't wait to weigh in on Sunday !!
Thanks for all your input, everyone.0 -

When I lost 100lbs from being 300lbs, 30lbs of that alone for me was from the soda! It's been five years and I haven't had a drop. I've even tasted some and the sugar is overwhelming. There's no way I crave it after I was away from it for so long. That's the best advice I can give any coke drinker when it comes to losing weight and feeling great, give up the soda. The only exception I allow is Diet Coke and Jack Daniels but I've been into Sugar Free Red Bull Jaigerbombers anyways. :glasses:
Honestly, soda is just bad IMO. When Pepsi is strong enough to clean my toilet bowl and Coca Cola's name is inspired after an Eric Clapton song, I really don't have much confidence in it.0
