My son just bought me a box of Thin Mints and proudly presented them to me in my office. My saving grace is that they are not really my favorite; they are my husband's. I didn't have the heart to tell him that though. So, here I sit with an unopened box of coolies. I am sure they will remain so until I get home tonight. :)

I only ordered 2 boxes of the trefoils from my neighbor's daughter this year, and when they come in, I will bring them into my office and leave them in the downstairs kitchen (two floors down from my desk) so I won't eat them!

Instead of taking the cookies home drop them off at the food shelter/pantry, or just give the money to the troop as a donation! No need for the temptation in the house!

I actually am going to just dontate money this year. Last year I was a troop leader and bought like 10 boxes of the Thanks a lots as I thought they would be great for smores in the summer. Yeah they never made it to summer. LOL so I am not buying any this year.

I always feel guilty because I sold a lot of cookies when I was little. I don't think that there are any girl scouts in my town, but I've seen them in front of the grocery store in the next town over. I like the donation idea.

I'm pretty sure my husband bought some from his co-worker's daughter. I think I'll be okay, though. Unless he got thin mints.

Well, I'm not lying. I'm gonna eat them. BUT... I freeze a couple boxes of Thin Mints every year... they last a long time in the freezer. So if I take out and eat 2 cookies as "dessert" when I have earned it... well, then it can't be much different than the skinny cow desserts I enjoy.
And I figure maybe the days I do extra exercise... anyway, I'm not gonna lie - I'm eatin' them. It's one time a year. LOL I eat healthy all day long, so I'm sure I'll be fine. :D

I ordered a few boxes, waiting for them to come in...my plan is to ratiion them out and keep them buried in the freezer that way I don't mindlessly eat them all in one sitting. use them as a treat for working out or when I have extra calories :)

I ordered 5 boxes. My saving grace is that I have a 17yr old son that can eat every last one of them in no time flat. I hope that they come near the weekend because my 15yr old nephew will be over and between the two of them those cookies will be demolished quickly.

I bought a few boxes but I leave them out at work and hopefully I will feel too ashamed to eat a whole box sitting at my desk so they should last me a few days.

Too late for me too. :ohwell: I ate a box of the peanut butter ones already. But the kids get the rest! I'm determined!

How To Mindfully Eat Girl Scout Cookies

Tips for Mindfully Eating Girl Scout Cookies
    1) One reason people mindlessly over eat Girl Scout cookies is due to the way they are packaged. The Thin Mints come in a long sheath and the Samoa, for example, are in rows. The natural "pause point" is at the end of the row or the sheath. A "pause point" is the place that you naturally stop and ask yourself if you want more. This way of packaging unconsciously leads people to eat more than they normally would. (Consider how Pop Tarts are packed in a set of two, to subtly imply that you should naturally eat two). Therefore, a helpful hint is to divide these rows of cookies into smaller baggies. That way when you get to the bottom of a bag of two cookies (instead of a row of cookies) you stop and ask yourself, "do I want more?" Creating your own pause points helps you to think mindfully about whether you really want another cookie. We often automatically respond to the subtle cues of packaging rather than our true hunger.

    2) If you don't want to waste the cookies but feel uncomfortable with how many you have on hand, there are recipes that call for using several cookies at once. See the recipes below. Bring one of these desserts to a potluck, or to an office meeting.
    4) Freeze a box. If you are like most parents, coworkers or grandparents, you buy multiple boxes to help your favorite little one. The good news is that they freeze well.
    5) Bring a box to work or other events. They will be gone quickly. If you worry about contributing to other people's mindless eating, you might also consider dividing up the cookies and putting one or two on a small plate. Wrap them up with pretty paper. This way you are sharing the cookies without leading others to eat them mindlessly.
    6) Get the facts. Check out the nutritonal information on your favorite cookie.
    7) Don't panic! Remember that Girl Scout Cookies happen once a year. This challenge won't last forever. If you do like them, eat them mindfully, savor and enjoy. Eating too many of them takes out the joy of these little treats.

I am a troop leader in fact I'm cookie Mom. I actually ate some Saturday, and logged everyone I ate. Did not go over my calories or my fat for the day. Even maintained my weight this weekend. Yah me! It can be done. Now granted I won't eat them everyday!

I heard Girls Scout cookies are made from actual Girl Scouts That's the only reason I buy them year after year. Who knew tiny children tasted so good?

They have a "COOKIE SHARE" option where you can don't the price of a box of cookies to the troop and not get actual cookies ;)

I've had alot of dieting friends do that PLUS they get the full amount vs a portion of the sale. :)

Ask you girl scouts they should know about this option. It's working good for my daughter. :)

I stopped buying them a few years ago. On the one hand, it's hard to say no to the girls. On the other hand, they are outrageously priced. I guess I'm on the "CHEAP guy" diet.

That's my diet too! That is the single thing that has stopped me from restaurant desserts for years!
