Hi! I just finished my first round of P90X classic. I have the four P90X plus workouts that I plan on trying next. I was wondering if anyone has done these and what their opinion is of them, as compared to the regular P90X workouts. Also, I was not sure if I should do just these workouts or a hybrid with P90X. Thoughts or opinions?

(PS- I did search this topic before posting and didn’t come up with much info on it. :)

For someone more advanced I like the P90X plus better.

Great job on being a P90X Grad! Not many people can say that. Most who move onto P90X+ just sub in the plus work outs. It is actually meant as an add on to P90X. Good news though P90X MC2 is coming out soon.

Just finished my 1st week of P90x plus workouts. The P90x+ incorporates a few f the P90x workouts in the + series. The one thing for P90x is...if you can't do a dozen pullups without assistance(chair) your probably not ready for P90x +. The Abs/core plus is just straight up sadistic....in a good kinda way lol.

I did two rounds of P90X and then a round of P90X Plus. I personally did not like the Plus as much because there is little emphasis on gaining muscle mass like in P90X. The Plus seems to be a more intense cardio workout and a more intense weight workout with an emphasis on doing reps for a certain amount of time rather than hitting a number goal.

As far as all the workouts go, I prefer the Kenpo Plus to the Kenpo X. I very much prefer the One on One Fountain of Youth over the Yoga X. And I really like all the P90X weight workouts like Chest and Back, etc... Plyometrics is awesome and can't be replaced. Even Core Synergistics is good but I don't have room in my now more diverse workout regimen for Core Synergistics. (But now that I am thinking about it, I might give it a shot this week!)

To answer your question about the Hybrid, I recommend that unless you want to gain muscle mass, that you do the P90X Plus program as stated for 90 days. Then, add some real variety to your workout life like running, martial arts, cross fit, etc... Keep the P90X family of tapes in as part of your 6-day workout routine.

Yeah, I use the P90X+ dvd's as add-on's I'll use them mostly for recovery weeks. I'll do Kenpo Cardio & Interval X+ during a recovery week but I'll use Abs/Core+ for my second ab workout of the week (ARX for 1st, Insanity Cardio Abs for the 3rd). Those are the only 3 dvd's from P90X+ that I like.

I just ordered P90X+ and Insanity. I'm 3 weeks from completing my first Round of P90X and wanted something more cardio as I train for my next 1/2 marathon. I am hoping to mix a hybrid of both these programs for the next three weeks then do Insanity for 60 days, then have all the resources available as I want them.
