I am new to the exercise world and need some help from you all. I have the diet and healthy eating down pat, but I'm lacking on the work-outs. I have no clue what type of exercises to do and for how long. If anyone can recommend a good web site, DVD, or personal tips you have, I would greatly appreciate the information.

I am also looking for friends on here to keep me motivated and do the same to you, so add me as a friend, and I will do what I can....Thanks for reading my post!!! Good luck to you!

Zumba is fun! You can try it out on YouTube.
  • I would completely recommend Jillian Michael's 30 Day Shred Video. It's short, only 20 mins, but it can def. kick your butt!!

Start small. Whatever you do-yoga, Latin dance, etc-start small. If you do to much right off the bat you will be discouraged.

I love Latin dance! It takes all the BORING exercises and makes them really fun! I get Latin dance workout dvd's from my library.

I started doing EA Sports Active 2 about 5 weeks ago - so far so good!! it's pretty quick too - I do it after I put my son to bed so it fits well into my schedule!

People exercise for different reasons. Sometimes it's for fun activity, sometimes it's to get into peak physical shape.

For fun: walks (with friends, family, or by yourself), Zumba, yoga, tennis, other sports, biking (with friends, family, self)

For fitness: swimming, running, spinning, calisthenics, weight training

For at-home exercise: Youtube has lots of options. I LOVE the Billy Blanks Tae Bo series, which can be found in sections. You can also make a playlist of all the different zumba videos to get a decent-length dance class. Plenty of aerobics videos (Jane Fonda included!) as well.

Hulu also has some fitness videos from Shape and other places. They're not my favorite but you might like them.

Exercisetv.tv << look for the free full-length videos. They range from 10-50 minutes and have many options (cardio, bootcamp, yoga, core, etc.)
