On the edge....

Well I am there - I am on that edge where I know I have to make a change! I have told myself this for the past year, but now I am going to do it! I know that changing my lifestyle isn't going to happen completely (I still love getting beers and chicken wings on Sundays) but I do want to know what effect that has on my day - everything in moderation right? If I have 3 wings vrs 6 or even a dozen (UGH! never again) how much exercise do I have to do to burn that off!!
I am not making excuses, but I am not going to deny myself of the foods I love, I am just going to think practically about it.
I started also the Wii Cardio Boxing from Golds Gym. If you are like me and don't want to shell out for a gym membership (in my area they are either $60 a month with over crowded classes or $20 a month with over crowded machines and no classes) this is a great alternative - The moves are easy to pick up and I wake up sore the next morning (a feeling I remember from a long time ago). Plus the jump rope mini workout can really kick you butt! Unlike some of the fitness workouts - I don't think the moves would be difficult for someone without coordination!
It is vain but I just want to look good in a swim suit again - I appreciate the tankini, but I want to rock a bikini!!

I'm in Buffalo, NY so there is NO WAY I'm giving up chicken wings (or any food, for that matter).
I charge myself 80 - 100 calories/wing. I order them hot so I don't need bleu cheese. 4 wings would be 320 - 400 calories and that fits into any reasonable day. No need to do an extra work out to burn off the wings...they're just my dinner that day.

another great alternative that i just found is ExerciseTV. if you have 'on demand' TV from your cable company, there is a whole slew of free workouts from walking & cardio to yoga & pilates to jillian michaels and more. so, rather than buying the dvd's, you can do these for free and even mix it up between a bunch of different instructors! it's awesome!0

You don't have to give up the chicken wings... but you do have to change up how you eat. Nutrition is about 80% of true weight loss (meaning - you lose it and you keep it off). If chicken wings is your thing, don't give them up entirely, but learn more about everything else you are eating and switch out the bad foods for good foods and keep it at a few wings (just like you said). Actually, the chicken wings are the least of your problems (high protein). I'd be more afraid of the sugars in the dressing. That's just me though.0
