Has anyone successfully maintained?

I'm always either losing or gaining weight, but I can never maintain. Has anyone who's reached their goal weight successfully maintained that weight by abiding by the calorie consumption recommended by MFP? Is it too low? Too high?

your weight will always fluctuated 5+/- pounds when you've reached your goal. ive managed to keep off 60 pounds for 2 years, now im just trying to get past my plateau.0

what is your definition of gaining?!?
I hit my goal weight in Nov (145lbs).
I decided now that I want to go ahead and lose another 10 - 15lbs
But I've been maintaining since Nov - Jan.
When I stepped on the scale I didn't freak out when I saw 146 - 148 because there are so many different factors that come into play. If you are a few lbs under or over your goal weight I wouldn't sweat it.
I also haven't been staying true to my daily calorie intake or logging my stuff. So to me I think it's all about staying active afterwards.0 -
When I say loss/gain, I mean more than the typical fluctuation (heck, I probably gain 3-5lbs in a day when I eat and drink a lot).
Right now, I'm fine with my achieved weight. My main concern is to be able to eat a consistent amount every day without gaining or losing in the long-term.0 -
MFP is set too low for maintenance for me. I use a fitbit to maintain and supplement it with MFP's food database. the fitbit gives me a better estimate on BMR + calorie expenditure so I can truly eat what I need in a day to maintain my weight and MFP's community and food help me reach that
When I tried to just use MFP's maintenance goal I dropped weight (which is not good as I originally wanted weight gain, then maintenance)-- YMMV, but I hope that helps a little.
btw- using the combo- I've maintained for 2 months now which is longer than I've ever managed lol0 -

Same here I have maintained 60 lbs lost for several months now within 5 lbs +/-. Now that I've taken a breather it's time to work on the other 60 lbs.0
