I second the quinoa... one of my favorite grains. I like to cook it in a half-and-half combination of low-sodium chicken broth and water; cool it to room temperature; throw in some diced red onion and a little garlic dijon vinaigrette (a couple cloves of minced garlic whisked with a teaspoon dijon mustard, a couple teaspoons red wine vinegar, salt and pepper, and some olive oil)

It's really good served with salmon and a leafy green vegetable (spinach, kale, etc)

My weekly grocery list typically looks like the following:

rice milk & almond milk (Im lactose intolerant), yogurt (for my husband)
Romaine, spinach, cilantro, basil, cucumer, tomatoes, yams, broccoli, turnip, sugar snap peas, celery, peppers (1 of each color), apples, seasonable berries (or frozen), pommelo (like a big grapefruit, so good), oranges, grapefruit,
whole wheat couscous, brown rice, Crispix Cereal, Special K, brown and bread flour (I make my own bread), Splenda, garlic hummus,
2 dinners of fresh fish (usually trout and salmon), few pkgs of ground turkey, LOTS of chicken breasts, ground bison

We eat pretty clean at our house so I make everything from scratch typically!

    Cheers!
  • Almonds and almond milk!

I second this! I use almond milk for everything! And grapefruit... I expanded my horizons today, and tried my first grapefruid... and LOVED it  Athenos greek yogurt is my favorite right now too...

chicken, beef, fish, veggies, fruit, spices, butter, bacon, nuts (but not peanuts, they're not actually a nut), eggs, cheese, greek yogurt, milk (unless you're lactose intolerant)

Shop the perimeter of the store (where the majority of the fresh stuff is) and you'll be golden

This. And I love Special K protein Shakes. Fills you up, gives you protein, and is like 200 calories.

I'm really into Wallaby lowfat yogurt right now - SO tasty and creamy for only 140 calories. I love freezing it for a desert.

I personally prefer Chobani greek yogurt, its a bit more sweeter and cheaper then the others. I don't really like yogurt, but I could eat chobani greek yogurt all day! yummmm

Also comment on the special k shakes, I've had all three of them and I thought they all tasted HORRIBLE, the chocolate one literally tastes like chocolate and water. The vanilla one wasn't to bad though.
