My favorite! But I just have mine plain... I first had it at a restaurant with spinach as a side. But I'd love to see some new ways to eat it!

It's pronounced keen-wah, it's kinda like a grain/seed, but gets kinda fluffy when you cook it. Reminded me of couscous in a way. It is really good!

If you Search under Recipes for 'quinoa' (here where you've posted this), you will find several recipes. Quinoa is de-lish... and you can really substitute it for rice in any dish, maybe even some couscous dishes (at least recipes I've tried). Yummy!

I love making a Greek quinoa salad with it- quinoa, feta, kalamata olives, red onion, olive oil. Simple, healthy (don't go crazy on the feta, or use fat free too), delicious.

Just found this recipe...at this link http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/161508-jillian-michaels-quinoa-granola?hl=quinoa#posts-2157630

    Jillian Michaels' Quinoa Granola
    Makes approx. 10-2 tbsp servings

    Ingredients
1 cup quinoa (uncooked, rinsed and drained)
    1/4 cup whole flaxseed
    1 tbs honey
    1 tbs olive oil
    Parchment paper

    Directions
Preheat the oven to 375° and spread parchment paper over a cookie sheet. Combine the first four ingredients in a bowl. Spread the mixture over the parchment paper. Bake it in the oven for 10 minutes or until lightly browned. Once it's completely cool, crumble the mixture. Combine 1/3 cup of the granola with nonfat plain Greek yogurt and fruit. Recipe makes about 10 - 2 tbsp servings.

    Carbs – 17g
    Fat – 7g
    Protein – 6g
    Fiber – 5g
    Sugar – 2g

Can't wait to try this... Someone said on the thread that whole flax seeds work better than ground! I'm glad I read that, because all I ahve here is ground (and probably would have tried it!!).

    Thanks for your ideas!

I prepare it with vegetable broth instead of water - adds more flavor. It's also a great breakfast grain - add nuts, dried fruit, milk or soy milk. Here are some recipes: http://www.savvyvegetarian.com/vegetarian-recipes/basic-quinoa.php

My husband makes it like rice - 2 to 1 ratio water to quinoa. Then we add whatever meat and veggies are in the fridge and it's dinner.

I cook mine in chicken broth and then add some sauteed, diced veggies (onions, celery, mushrooms, carrots), some dried fruit (craisins or raisins) and some chopped toasted almonds. I love it and will eat it hot or cold. My kids hate it but they haven't hit the 20 time try something yet.
