Motivational Quotes For Tattoo

My reward for reaching my final goal, which I am 20 lbs away from, is a new tattoo and I think I will be there in about 4 months. I want the tattoo to be a motivational quote either in a circle around a mercury's winged sandal or a line with the sandal at the end of it. The design will depeneds on where I end up placing it and how long the quote is.
I currently have 5 quotes I like but I want to make up a board with a bunch of quotes that I can keep going back to until I reach my goal and the one that ends up motivating me the most will end up being the tattoo.

The first 5 I have picked out are:
Other people may not have high expectations of me, but I have high expectations for myself - Shannon Miller
It is a rough road that leads to the heights of greatness - Seneca
Pain is temporary, Pride is forever
Vision without action is a daydream, Action without vision is a nightmare
Ablitiy is what you are capable of doing. Motivation determines what you do. Attitude determines how well you do it. - Lou Holtz

Right now my favorites of these are the Lou Holtz and the Seneca quotes.

Do you have any quotes that motivate you?

PS. Please do not put down "Nothing tastes as good as skinny/healthy feels." That is not a tattoo worthy quote and a lie.

I myself am a fan of Seneca quotes as well, one of my favourites is:

"It is not because things are difficult that we do not dare; it is because we do not dare that they are difficult."

Most of the fitness quotes I like aren't really tattoo-worthy, I really like the Seneca quote you have and the Shannon Miller quote. What a great reward for yourself!

    Hello!

First, I feel that this is a wonderful idea! I personally find quotes like

    "Do not accept - CHALLENGE!"
"You may be disappointed if you fail, but you are doomed if you don't try." -Beverly Sills
"The power to amaze yourself" - Curves motto, not sure if it is direct quote from someone...
"When thoughts become action, success is attainable."
"Instead of giving myself reasons why I can't, I give myself reasons why I can."
And, whether you agree or not, I personally like "Nothing tastes as good as feeling fit feels."... I really, truly love this line. I'm not sure why you say it is a lie... Perhaps it is just a matter of personal opinion, but to me, this quote helps keep me away from the chocolate ice cream, McDonalds, cookies, pies, etc.... I love how good I feel when I get my exercise, eat right, and look after myself. no matter good a slice of cheesecake may be... it doesn't measure up to how healthy and strong my mind and body are feeling now! :) I hope you succeed in your goals, and that you post a photo of your tattoo when you get it, I'd love to see.... and please, don't discount one of my favorite motivating quotes as a lie. it may not work for you, but it's one of my 10 rules to live and diet by, haha!

"Obsession is a word the LAZY use to describe the DEDICATED." ~Anonymous

"Oh, my friend, it's not what they take away from you that counts. It's what you do with what you have left." ~Hubert Humphrey

    "I'm not what I have done, I'm what I've overcome" ~Fireflight

"Do the thing you fear the most and the death of fear is certain." ~Mark Twain

Here are a few to throw in the ring, what a great idea to tat a quote!

"I was always looking outside myself for strength and confidence, but it comes from within. It is there all the time." ~ Anna Freud

"We are not what we know but what we are willing to learn." ~ Mary Catherine Bateson

"You must be the change you wish to see in the world." ~ Mahatma Gandhi "

"I don't want to get to the end of my life and find that I have just lived the length of it. I want to have lived the width of it as well." ~ Diane Ackerman

"You gain strength, courage and confidence by every experience in which you really stop to look fear in the face." ~ Eleanor Roosevelt

"Know your limits, not so you can honor them, but so that you can smash them to pieces and reach for magnificence!"-- Chérie Carter-Scott

Thank you for the quotes I really like the "When thoughts become action, sucess is attainable."

I can discount the nothing feels quote as this is a quote that is going on my body for life and it is one I do not live by as I live in moderation, not pure clean living, so having a piece of chocolate or small bowl of ice cream is not something that will set me back.

Oh, I totally agree that the 'nothing' quote isn't one to tattoo, but to be fair, you'd said it was a lie. It's simply something that runs through my mind when I am making a meal/snack; it helps me control my portions, as opposed to allowing my eyes-bigger-than-belly urge to add extra icecream to the bowl, cheese to a pizza or butter to a baked potato. It was a bit hard to see one my 'mental mantras' called a lie flat-out... But I do agree that although it is quote that helps me keep my inner strength around delicious things; it isn't the choice for a tattoo. :)

I'm thinking about getting one too... just one word though "possibility" and probably as a chinese symbol, unless I can find some other graphical representation.

I currently have "Life is Beautiful" with two stars on each side on my rib cage and arc'ing around my breast.

I would like to second the fact that tattoos do hurt. Lol!

But, my point with that is, choose wisely how large the quote will be for how many words you'll have. I've never actually measured, but I believe my rib cage tattoo is about an inch thick, very long, and was excruciatingly painful. I know it took three and a half hours to finish, with only one break to let the swelling go down.

However, I PURPOSEFULLY placed my tattoo in one of the most painful places possible, so that I'd be reminded of how much we go through in life, but how beautiful it will always be.

You'll want to make sure that you choose a great spot, with just enough letters to get through that amazing pain. =]

I do too! How weird is that lol
I actually have it on the top and bottom of a gothic-looking butterfly. My favorite (most painful) tattoo!

BTW this will be my third tattoo. I am still debating on where I want to have it. I would actually like to cover up the tattoo on my back/shoulder but since this one is going to be words and an outline of the singed sandal I don't think it would work.
