So I had been on MFP before, but had to stop training after a few health problems unrelated to diet and exercise. Now I finally know what's wrong, medicated, and still can't train, but will hopefully do soon! I've decided to start with the hardest part: quit cigarettes. I haven't smoked since saturday night (which marked my 36th birthday) and hopefully will stick to it!

I do not have much weight to lose (maybe about 5kg) but would really like to get back in shape, so as soon as I can run again (my favorite!) I will.

I would really appreciate any ideas anyone can give me on alternative exercise. At the moment I have a serious vitaminD/Calcium deficiency and the doctor said I should not exercise for at least 3/4 months... I am a member of a gym, so any tips would be great, just nothing too hard on joints :)

Thank you so much!

I would suggest yoga. It will keep you flexible and toned.
It will be a lot of stretching which won't interfere with your joints.
    Hope this helps

    Hello Sherley,

You're right, yoga would be a great one, it's just so difficult for me to stick to a schedule! Freelance professional AND back at Uni just makes my weeks a bit messy, but it is a great idea and I will search around. Thank you!

    Hello Oppie,

Thank you so much, same to you!
  • Maybe try bicycling or the eliptical (sp?), more of circular motions as oppose to pounding on the treadmill. Good luck, hope you can boosts those levels of Vit D & calcium and get back on track. I know it's hard to stop when you're forced to..... then try to start all over again!
