Hi everyone.. I was wondering if anyone else is doing high protein low carb???
Because I've been on program with a diet coach for the past 12 weeks and he's telling me high protein and very low carbs.. only 2 servings of carbs per day.. but here in my food log it's telling me I'm not getting enough carbs but my diet coach tells me that carbs are really bad if you are pear shaped and want to slim down the lower body...

You can adjust your goals regarding carbs and proteins, so MFP will indicate levels that are more in line with your style of eating.

    How do I do that??
  • i'm not sure what 2 servings of carbs is or how many grams that would be for you.

It's been suggested to me in our classes that we shoot for 1 g of protein for each lbs of muscle and then 2 carbs for each protein. My goal is for 160 g of protein and 320 g of carbs per day, the carbs should be coming from whole grains, fruits, veggis, and other sources too.You need to have a good balance of both throughout each day.

    Sorry, I responded too quickly.

    Go to: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/account/change_goals

    and choose "custom goals"

This will allow you to set the percentage of the various macro nutrients, so , you might want to set 30% carbs, 40% protein 30% fat: MFP works out the grams for you.

"2 servings of carbs" according to a diabetic exchange list is 30g of carbs. That's really low. Your body needs carbs for the energy to expend, plus it should keep your insulin/glucose levels stable. But I'm diabetic, so I need 'em. Though having excess protein won't hurt you either. It will repair muscle and help build [lean] muscle.

    Hi There,

Fitness woman at my gym said I should aim to have 100 carbs total for the day or under, and to eat alot more protein. You need a certain amount of carbs for your body to function (energy).....
