Hi
I have been taking Cymbalta Duloxetine 90mg per day for approx 18 months now.
I have been calorie counting to lose weight for over a year and exercising regularly but CANNOT get below 142lbs!
I have only just clicked that the reason may be down to my medication I take. After looking on google, I found it could be this that is causing my problem (I Never previously have had issues with weight or the ability to lose weight) I also crave carbs and sugar (although I don't over eat them if I can help it) and I am wondering now if this medication could be why losing weight is impossible for me?
I guess if I can tone my body then I would have to learn to live with my weight, which is classed as normal BMI (I think I am just so desperate to move to 130s because of the number change) But I am wondering if the medication is actually the issue?
Anyone with any advice? Also if you have been on Duloxetine and changed because of this problem - what did you change to?
I hope you will kindly give me advice because I am so FED UP of putting in maximum effort for Zero results and would love to know that it is not me that is at fault!
Thank you in advance

I have never been on Cymbalta but I know SSRI's can cause you to retain more water, have a bigger appetite, cause weight gain etc. I would talk to your doctor about it they should know what you can do to help with this or switch you to a new medicine.0

I am going to make a Doctors appointment to discuss but not sure what to ask for instead. Has anyone else got any advice please?0

Hi,
I have used Cymbalta but I wasn't on it long because it didn't seem to work for me. One thing I notice when I am really depressed is that I CRAVE carbs like nobody's business. Is the medication actually helping your depression because if it isn't and you are craving carbs maybe you are eating with in your calories but just eating too many carbs.
Ask yourself, is Cymbalta actually helping you control your depression?0 -

Hi
It does actually work for the depression. I have previously been on lots of others that have not been good. I have uni polar that the drs think will never be managed without being controlled by medication.
I crave things that I never really used to be over keen on (fresh cream for example). I really do not go over my calories that I am allowed (I have tried several different figures over the last year to shake things up) though which is why I do not understand why I cannot shift the scale any lower. I am also burning around 3000 calories (HRM) a week in exercise.0 -
awe..sorry I was no help. I am glad that your depression is in check. Hopefully, the doctor can figure something out to help you.0
