I'm so unbelievably mad at myself.

So yesterday was boyfriends birthday and so I got him a pecan pie because it's his favorite. I told myself I was going to allow myself to have one little peice...

Well, that one little piece turned into 3 little peices and a good chunk of the pie and from what I figure....

1005 CALORIES.

UGH! Why would I do something so stupid! I purposly didn't look up the calorie count because I was too scared to know and turns out it was worse than I could have ever imagined!

From now on...

I don't eat ANYTHING unless I know how many calories are in it.

Sigh. So much for all my hard work at the gym last night.

    Today is a new day.

I too have discovered that the most dangerous words that can cross my mind are "how bad can it be?" "I'll check the calories later".

The answer to "how bad can it be?" is almost always: "Bad, really bad."

This is my virtual hug for you! :flowerforyou:

Don't be so hard on yourself! Birthday's are special occasions, just buckle down and start the good fight again.

By the way....how many calories do you think are in a Cuban Sandwich the size of my arm? Look for me I'm afraid...

eHaris, I want what you're having for lunch. I am in Virginia, but am a Cuban from South Florida, and being here a year, I totally miss out on the good Cuban food. Problem with visiting home: Cuban bakery = I don't want to know how many calories

In regards to the pie, it's not something you do every day and as long as you are watching your calorie intake for the rest of the week, you're not going to gain. I mean, 3500 calories = 1 pound so figure if you are trying to lose 1 pound a week, and really sticking to it, it just means you're only eating 2,500 calories less this week and will work to do the 3,500 next week. It's a celebration day and we all fall off the wagon sometimes (i.e. me 2 weeks ago at graduation at Cuban restaurants and bakeries, and I stll lost 1/2 pound that week).

We've all had moments like that!! But I'm here to caution you. Last fall I began a nutrition plan in consultation with my naturopath. The month I was on it I was losing weight, feeling good... then I had a couple of really "bad" days. I was beating myself up so badly about it that I apparently gave up. I allowed myself to lose my motivation and momentum and between Nov 2007 and last week when I started MFP, I gained back the 10lbs I'd lost and another 5 to boot! Self deprecation is pointless so just try to remember your lesson (it's so hard to check cals when we know it won't look good) and let yourself start fresh today!!

    Big hug! :flowerforyou:
