one particular aspect of my diet has come to my attention.I have an obsession with coke zero and carbonated water drinks.
Are they really terrible for you? I know they are really high in sodium and don't have anything good for you in them,. I was just wondering other peoples opinions or knowledge on the matter. I have limited myself to about once a week for them now.

Well, artificial sweeteners are not very good for you, so you should try to limit the diet soda as much as you can. But fizzy drinks in general are not really a problem. Do you like seltzer? They make it in some interesting flavors and it has no sodium/sugar/artificial sweetener. The flavors are not very strong, and it's not sweet, but it's fizzy... I love it.0

I also love my Coke Zero and carbonated waters. Contrary to what you might think, they are surprising very low in sodium. The only thing that I can say is...the carbonation has to go somewhere. Hence why we burp. I've heard that they can cause bloating because of the excess gas they produce. Then there's the obvious, artificial sweeteners aren't so good for you. I limit myself to 2 cans of Coke Zero per day and maybe a carbonated water 2-3x per week.

Me personally speakng - well I used to be ADDICTED to coke, wasn't a real fan of diet coke but would drink it if thats all there was. I went from drinking 4L a day (3 years ago) to 2L a day. I decided in October to just cut it out completely and I lost a stone just from that alone! I don't deprive myself either, but haven't had the urge to have a drink either. I had my first coke since October 2 days ago and it actually made my stomach really sore so cant see me actively wanting one for a very long time!
If you like fizzy drinks theres similar drinks over here tothe likes of sprite etc called H2o and its basically a sprite without all the calories and bad stuff, tastes exactly the same though so maybe theres a similar alternative where you live0
