Fatty fruit, go figure

I've always thought of fat as something you get mainly from animal products or processed food and it never occurred to me that fruits or vegetables could have fat in them. To be fair most of them don't, but I was shocked to realize after lunch today that my avocado had two thirds of my day's fat in it! It's obvious now that I think about it, cause how else could it get so creamy? I just did a little research and it seems that the fat in avocados is the healthy kind that reduces cholesterol, so I'm not going to get too worked up about it. It's the same philosophy I have about sugar, if a couple pieces of fruit put me over my sugar limit for the day it's not the end of the world, it's better to just accept that than give up fruit completely.

Very, very few fruits and vegetables have fat in them. Avocados and olives - and yes they are the good fats.

Avacados are SOOOOO good for you! Not all fat is bad. People get so tetchy round fat and most of the time they shouldn't!

I have that same problem with the sugar! I always try to eat 2 servings of fruit a day but it always puts me over my sugar allowance for the day...even if I don't eat anything else with sugar in it. Oh well, LOL. Does anyone know of any fruit lower in sugar content?

Avacados and artichokes make good grenades. They're for throwing not eating...
  • Don't forget that our bodies NEED fat, and not just for energy reserves either. Fat builds your nervous system and lubricates your organs, among other things!

Just try to stay away from artificial trans fats, and try not to go above your daily intake too often =)

Try to think of them as wrinkle/age fighters. They are the good fat that you need and are GREAT for your skin! Just eat in moderation.
