I am all for the MFP New York City weekend! That would be a blast!0
-
Friday night we are going to a Yankee Game... my hub and his fam are HUGE fans!!! I don't have a favorite team - I just like baseball.
Saturday is reserved for sight-seeing... then dinner in Little Italy at Da Nico. My husband's fam are all Italian... full blooded... haha!!!
Not sure about Sunday... we fly out at Noon.
When my daughter and I went to NYC last spring we ate at Da Nico's! Wonderful food and service is top notch! .....yummm...
Oh...and you being a Belle and all (I'm a Belle too--Tennessee), you might want to realize that these people are all in a little bit of a hurry, so they really don't want to stop and chat with you, so don't make eye contact with them on the street--it makes them a little uneasy I think! LOL They're really not rude, just on a mission.
Thanks for the tips! I'm a talker!!! Heehee!!
My husband said the same thing... no rude just on a mission! That's funny! I hope I don't annoy anyone there! I'm not a total "southern" stereotype but close. haha!
It's SO true! WOW....I was just in last Wed, and trying to get out of the train in Grand Central Station during rush hour, walk across and to the subway was like playing Frogger!! LMAO! (remember that game??) I had my son in a stroller too, which made it interesting!
Yes, people are very much on a mission...either getting TO work, or going home FROM work, or getting to a meeting or going shopping or meeting someone for dinner!! Just busy busy!!
However, I have found that anytime I did need help (back when I had first moved out this way)..if I did need to ask someone how to get somewhere, many people were a lot more helpful than you think they will be!!0 -

That's funny! I was actually thinking about that episode as I was typing that!!  That's pretty much how it is trying to get around NYC!0 -

Yeah, stand out of the way....and you will be ok. If you stop suddenly, while walking down the sidewalk..you just MIGHT be trampled!
And, and hardly anyone actually waits for the "walk" signal to cross a street. Most just wait for a car to not be coming and go....AND if you are walking across...there are many cars that will try to turn anyway. LOL Not to scare you!! :laugh:0 -

Thanks for the tip... I am such a picture-taker!!! My husband always calls me a Chinese Tourist (not trying to offend anyone). Haha!!!  :laugh:0 -
You can tell the locals from the tourists: the locals walk with their heads down/forward--the tourists walk with their heads bent back, looking up.
LOL After a few days, my daughter and I had caught the rhythm of the city and we were complaining about the *^%$ tourists who stopped in the middle of the sidewalk taking pictures.
You'll catch the rhythm quickly--the spirit of the city really gets in your soul.
I wanna go back :sad:0 -

Stop and get ice cream and muffins and NY pizza - Check, Check, Check
Don't wear a Boston shirt to the Yankee game - CHECK!!! (haha)
Have a BLAST - Check, Check, Check, Check, Check......
Anything else I need to know...0 -

Hmmmm, just be prepared when walking across a street (even at a crosswalk). It can get nasty if you don't move fast enough! Hahahaha! AND if you ride in a taxi...just.....well.......hold on and pray!! :laugh:0 -
ummm....yeah.
Take lots of pictures
Take GOOD walking shoes
Get a pocket-size map of Manhattan
Get a purse that you can wear across you instead of on your shoulder (or you could get a fanny pack! LOL:noway: )
HAVE FUN0 -

I remember one year when hubbz and I were late catching aplace to Puerto Rico, we told the cab driver to be a bit fast... he was fast alright! We were getting whipped around in that cab.0 -
