Need some new mental soundtracks

What kind of mental motivators do you keep playing in your head to keep you on track to losing weight?

I have never been super overweight but I have also never been a size 3 and probably never will. I've fluctuated weight all my life and gained and lost more times than I care to consider but I also keep myself realistic to the idea that I don't WANT to do the shakes mixes and "bodybuilder" diet of 6 egg white omelets and plain grilled chicken breast for the rest of my life either. I've tried that too and I have to say, I was a bear to try to deal with over those months and weeks.

I know that this has to be a healthy lifestyle overhaul but at the same time, I love food and I love to eat. I am having a hard time motivating myself to a possibly "unrealistic" goal weight but then fear maintenance by cutting out my favorite foods for the rest of my life. I know I am talking myself in circles but what do you tell yourself to keep on track and not just keep falling back into the same old patterns that keep you from progressing in your weight loss journey?

I will NOT end up like my Mom... sick with diabetes and overweight and miserable and old at 60... or like my Dad... dead at 48.

Yup, that's pretty much it. I'm short and have set my goal for something I think is attainable and maintainable for me... if I can go under that, great, if not-it's ok!!!!
