Exercising while sick

Is it a bad idea to work with a sore throat? I skipped my morning elliptical because my throat is fairly sore and I wasn't sure if all the labored breathing would irritate it more. I feel guilty because it seems like a cop out but everyone around me has been getting this bug and it's taking them a while to shake it off.

What have you done in the past? Do you work out when you are sick or stop while you recover? How sick do you have to feel before you take a break from working out?
