Diary open or Closed?

Just curious if you have your diary open for others to view or closed? I personally have mine open for friends to view just so I know everyone can see what I put in my mouth in case I feel the urge to cheat myself and give up..That is not an option for me so the more people watching the more I resist to doing it..

I have mine open I think for everyone to see.. but I do that so I can get feedback.. like if people think i am eating more then alloted or like lately.. people think I am hardly eating any of my calories.. so.. I like getting the feedback.. but sometimes I also feel like its a bad thing cause then if I do.. and if I wanna cheat I am scared people may tell me that I am doing the wrong thing0

I have mine open to the pubic. Some just want to get ideas on different things to eat without adding more friends??0

Open to the Public. I don't think I have ever been criticized or "put down" even when I have a bad day.0

I originally had it only open for Friends, but now I keep it completely open (ie Public). I am trying to approach my weight-loss journey without shame. I feel like whatever choices I make either move me toward or away from my goal. Either way, I have t be accountable for that, without judgement or guilt. Also, I comment in the forums quite a bit, and feel that it is only fair that if I am offering up suggestions or comments, people should be able to look at my diary and see if I’m living my own advice.0

Mine is open to friends. And there ARE occasions when I actually make better choices because I know that someone may peek!

Opennnnnnnn. I had it closed when I first started, but that wasn't doing me any favors. When you have it open, you get to really think about what your diet looks like from an outside perspective. And then you think, hmm, maybe having pizza for three days and then burgers for 2 days and then donuts for breakfast ISN'T the best thing, eh? And then you make better choices. It's good.0

Open. Want and need people to help keep me accountable. Plus, I like seeing what others eat. Gives me ideas for when I am in a rut. I have never criticized someone for what they have eaten. If is was "bad" they know it already and will usually comment on it themselves.0

I keep mine open to the public is well, I figure the more people who are able to see it the more people get to benefit from it or, can help me when I'm eating things I shouldn't be.0

I've just read this and decided to open mine up to the public, which feels quite scary. Hopefully if I need a random b0ll0cking I'll get one from some passing stranger now!0

I have mine open.
If I just wanted to use my diary for personal reference to track what i'm eating that would be fine
....however I think i'm the type of person who needs a little more help and support to stay motivated.
Keeping my diary open kind of keeps me on my toes as I know that my friends can read it, comment on it if they wish, offer suggestions and give me a bit of gentle nudge in the right direction if they see i'm veering off track.
Also, on the flip side, if i'm losing weight and staying within my calorie goals it allows others to take a peek at my food choices and maybe get a few ideas for themselves...it cuts both ways!
If you're being honest with yourself and logging all your food intake...even on the days when you have a bit of a blip....nobody on MFP is here to judge and I personally find it really helps to keep my diary open.0 -
Mine is open to friends, but I'm tempted to open it to the public. Knowing that others might look helps me make better choices. I don't always eat like I should, but knowing the people see what I eat is certainly encouraging me to change that!!0

Okay, I'm going to be brave. Mine was just open to friends, but I'm going to open it up to anyone.
I've been off MFP for a couple weeks, but I'm back and read to get back to it.0 -
I keep mine open (can't imagine any possible privacy issues!) and it's great because I know some of my friends do check it every night, and knowing that always makes me make better choices!!0

I don't think people usually do drive-by critiques. But it does help knowing that people can see it, because you can imagine, "What would I think if I saw somebody else's food diary looking like this?" And it's also useful if you're hitting a plateau or having trouble meeting your goals, because sometimes other people can point out something you're missing.0 -
Mines open.. but I dont have any friends LOL0

I don't have a preference. I left it at its default setting. I haven't even written anything as a description for my profile. No one's asked to see my diary and I'm not really curious about other peoples'. What people decide to eat is there choice. If there are requests, I'll open mine up. Other than that: default settings it stays.0

I close mine...otherwise I've found I'm too tempted to lie! But, I do have to say I like looking at other folk's diaries. So I guess I'm one of those free riders.0

I have to admit..I look into other peoples diaries to get better food ideas so I don't get bored of what I'm eating...Plus I love to get information on what people eat who have lost a lot of weight to make sure I'm doing it right.. I have a lot of weight to loose and I don't want to waste anytime doing it wrong.. Thanks everyone for your answers!!!0

I have a key on mine. I gave it to my fiance (he's out of town for work for the time being).. If people ask me for it I'll let them see it.0
