Hi all - for the last month, I have been doing turbo jam and turbo fire dvds. I have attempted to follow the turbo fire schedule, but I'm not sure I like it. I feel like I need some weight training in the mix, and I'm not sure if I like the HIIT concept. Should I be doing cardio every day? Shouldn't I incorporate weight training to avoid muscle loss? Does Turbo Fire count as weight training since there is so much arm work and squats, etc? Do I have to follow the Turbo Fire schedule to get results, or, could I pick my favorite dvds and focus on them?

Thanks!

Your routine depends on your goals.

Do you want to be thin?
    Or athletic...
    Or muscular...

What is your priority? Loosing weight, or gaining stregnth? It can be both, but that's a tricky balance.

What kind of equipment do you have access to?
Are you working out at a gym, or at home?

How much time do you want to dedicate to this change?

F.Y.I. If you are on a calorie deficient diet, and doing cardio, you are loosing weight in both fat and muscle.

koosdel: Thanks for your reply. My goal is to lose only fat - no muscle! My fitness goal is to build up stamina and strength. I absolutely do NOT want "big" muscles (I am female) but I would love sexy toned arms.

    I weigh 245.

I have access to Turbo Fire, hand weights, a treadmill and I am willing to add DVDs to my collection. I currently follow the Turbo Fire schedule, which alternates intense cardio with HIIT workouts. There isn't any strength training with weights. Thats the part I am concerned about. How much weight training needs to be incorporated and how often per week, which parts of body, and how often should I continue to do cardio? (many questions still)

    Thanks again!

    http://www.scoobysworkshop.com/shoulder.htm.

    For arms and shoulders.

    For legs and booty.

    Or a complete routine.

Everything listed here can be done with simple dumbells or even water bottles. I would suggest using the minimum of weight, and don't worry so much about adding more. Comfortably heavy.

I do the ChaLEAN Extreme circuit training. It is three days of strength training (you are lifting weights) and the other days are cardio. It's by Chalene Johnson, the same person on your TurboJam and TurboFire workouts). I absolutely love it!! It is another BeachBody product and was on sale last month for $30 off, but I don't know if the sale is still on - you'd have to check BeachBody's web site.
