Almost finished C25k making time but not distance

Hello All,
I am almost finished with my C25k training. I am only covering about 2 1/4 miles in 30 minutes on the treadmill at 5.0. I was hoping to race in a 5k in a few weeks. Do you think this is a wise thing to do? or should I wait until I have the distance down.
Anyone else do the program and not cover a full 3 miles?

I haven't finished the program yet but you are nearly there.
Do you feel like you could go for longer when you are doing the program?
Are you doing the whole program on the treadmill? Running on the road and running on the treadmill feel very different so I would recommend getting a few runs off the treadmill done before commiting yourself to the 5k.0 -
Racing against others might make you run faster. And you don't have to complete the 5K in less than 30 minutes.0

Thanks all; Yes I do need to "pound the pavement" I tried trail running and it was completely different. I would love to be under 30 but I may have to wait a while0
