i have very bad tendonitis in my right ankle which i think is a result of injuries sustained during years of ballet and cheerleading and am experiencing a very bad "flare up" right now.
i am very careful to use proper form when i exercise and wear very well fitting running shoes and did not go crazy with my workout lastnight either. but after that is when it started bothering me. today it's very sore and stiff and causing me to walk like i'm 80. anyway. just writing to see if you can suggest and strengthening exercises that i could be doing to help with this issue. I'm hoping this is something that I can tend do at home with a little patience and diligence since i cant really afford physical therapy.
also when i have issues with this i stick to boxing, yoga, and pilates workouts but if you have other thoughts for me while i'm aching they are more than welcome.
thanks so much in advance!

are your trainers fitted by an expert in a specialist sport shop ?? coz cheap /badfitting trainers can cause injury ..0

go to a physical therapist recommended by a sports doctor (or go to the doctor first to rule out any serious injury). Go once to get all the exercises, ask lots of questions, and then do the workouts yourself. That is what we did when my daughter had injuries that needed a physical therapist. We always went to ones that work with the university athletes.0

I'm not a trainer but I injured my ankle years ago and did nothing about it. I even ran a 5k the weekend after the injury. I began doing research on my type of injury and the best cure was rest! It took many months for the pain and swelling to go away after I began consciously giving it the rest it needed. There are other exercises that can be done that do not involve the ankles like swimming and upper body weight training. From personal experience I don't think boxing would help your ankle heal. Pilates and yoga are less focused on the ankles but something needs to support those poses!0

I had to go through physical therapy for these issues, unfortunately. You can also try massage, hot soaks or an Epsom salt soak. There are also certain exercises I had to start doing because the root of the problem was plantar fasciitis. Unfortunately, an in-person doctor visit with a trained podiatrist or sports physician is the best route to take.0
