so in additon to all my other workouts, I have recently added the Jillian Michaels 30 day shred to my daily plan. Am I supposed to do that every day like it is implied? I thought I was supposed to rest my muscles and only work certain ones every other day? I usually do some sort of cardio/strength training for 45-60 minutes in the morning and either Zumba class or Wii fit in the evening. I am eating about 1200 calories a day and I am always hungry. Not seeing much weight dropping off, just the safe 1 pound a week. I am really frustrated for all this hard work and little results. I am on 5 weeks of major life change and wonder why the fat isn't going away!

Are you netting 1200 calories or are you only eating 1200 calories and then working out on top of it?0

are you eating only 1200 calories a day? what about the calories you burn during your work-outs?? You have to eat some of them, if not you are putting your body in starvation mode. Believe me - I experienced that, tried to only eat 1200, was always starving and working out up to 2 hrs a day....until I started eating at least half or more of those calories I burnt off I stopped losing.....eat - if your hungy...if not - this turns into a "diet" that you won't be able to maintain.....0

Actually, it does sound like Jillian recommends doing it every day, but any good, qualified and certified trainer will tell you otherwise. Your muscles need a day in between workouts to heal. They get microscopic tears, and if you don't let them heal, you are breaking down your muscles instead of making them stronger. Also, if you are just starting out, you shouldn't be at the lowest calorie setting. You need to work down to that. A lot of people make that mistake and end up feeling hungry all the time. Also, especially with vigorous strength training like 30 Day Shred, be sure to at least eat some of your exercise calories. Your body needs that fuel, and you will still have a calorie deficit left at the end of the day because MFP has calculated one for you. Good luck.0

You can over exercise. I don't know if you are but diet and exercise are considered stressful and our body doesn't differentiate between different types of stress. They all get treated the same.
And the more you exercise the more you need to eat, especially cardio since it burns so many calories.0 -
I started out for the first 3 weeks of eating back the calories burned. Then, I read on Jillian Michaels that the way to loose is work off more than you eat. So, if I eat 1200 and exercise 600-1000 plus my daily life and activities, then you will loose up to 3 pounds a week. I WANT TO EAT MORE! but i don't want to sabotage this hard work!0

Sounds like you need to eat MORE!!!! You're body can't survive with so much exercise and very little calories.
The 30 day shred says it's to be done everyday... BUT... You do need to rest your muscles! REST is just as important as working out! On those rest days you don't binge and be lazy tho. No, go for a walk, do some stretching or yoga. but nothing too strenuous!
Hope that helps!0 -

You won't sabbotage as long as you stay within the recommended here on MFP! It will tell you how many calories you have left!
From personal experiece, I typically burn abou 1000 calories in a workout. When I didn't NET at least 1200 calories and only stuck to my daily allowance, I was ALWAYS hungry and didn't see very good results. When I started NETTING at least 1200 calories (eating back exercise calories) then the weight started falling off!
You'll see results! I promise!!!0 -
I'm eager to hear the responses on this one. I have survived 4 days of L3 now but have only take 3 days off from Jillian since right before Christmas when I started. There is nothing on the box that indicates you should take a day off, hence the 30 Day Shred, but I have also always heard to never work the same muscle group multiple days in a row. Just recently I started to jump around a bit between all 3 levels so I would not work the same muscles each day, but I really do not know what the correct answer is here.0

I have a personal trainer and he sd that it is okay to work out every day you just have to eat more protein and less carbs. Iif you have not loss weight eat salmon and lots of fish and brocalli also after every workout you are suppose to drink a protein shake ...I usually do special k...try that for a while also eat lots of tuna raw in a can only with water not oil. Eat more protein and you can lose weight fast cut the carbs sometimes slows your metabolism0
