Ok I woke up HUNGRY this morning. Tried to keep it at bay but ended up eating scrambled eggs and canadian bacon. Not bad a total of 120 cals. But the hungry monster wouldn't leave me alone. Try to keep it good so went for a special k bar..90 cals. Still hungry. Hit up the Adkins bars. 160 cals. Finally done. Hunger satisfied. At least for now. I have been doing good with logging all my meals and keeping right at or a little under my calorie count. Exercise has been hit or miss I will admit to that. But over all I have lost 14 lbs since Jan 5th and 7 pounds since I joined MFP. Well I don't want today to be a total lost so I went ahead and put in all the rest of the food I THINK I will be eating today. Just to see what my cals will be, If I keep to it I will be 1 cal under my cal goal. Thats not including exercise ( cleaning day, grocery shopping, wii biggest looser, ect ect) I guess my question/point here is :
Am i the only one who posts their food backwards? Logging it before I even eat it? Is it a good practice? I like to think it keeps me in line with my eating habits and makes me think more about what is going in...even if I don't exercise. What do you all think of this subject??

I prefer to have my day planned out and logged in the morning. Maybe not my snacks, but, certainly my meals, it lets me know if I have any wiggle room, and what I can have for snacks (or alcohol)

Heck, yesterday was a work lunch, I had that logged 4 days ago

Edited to add: If I don't have my day pre-planned, I am more likely to end up WAYYYYYYYYYY under my 1200.

GOSH NO! Posting your food for the day is a great tool to use in this weight loss journey! It means you are actually thinking about what you are putting into your mouth and can adjust it before you digest it! I don't do it everyday, but it is definitely the way to go when you can take the time to plan ahead. IT is something I have recommended to others on their weight loss journey. Keep it up as you can and it really enables you to feed your body correctly!

I always post mine before I eat if I already know what I'm having for the day. It's great to see what your day is looking like incase there are some unexpected changes in your day. I think planning your meals is the key. If don't like to eat first and then post, it scares me that I'll go over! LOL

I usually have my entire day logged by mid-morning. This way I know exactly what I have to do to stay under goal. If it works for you, go for it!

    hey,

Instead for saying you logging backwards - I would say yor forward planning! I personally try to do that as much as a can (usually mon-fra, weekends a bit hit and miss!) but it works for me. If that works well for you, stick with it :-)

I've done that a couple of times.

I think not only does it help me plan my day of eating, but I hate the feeling I have when I have to go back into my food database and add something that wasn't planned. Sometimes just that will keep me from straying too often.

Good job on the loss so far !!!
  • I am in the same boat - some days I just can't get that rumbly tummy to stop. I have also entered my meals ahead of time and it does seem to help keep me in line.

I log in my food before I eat it just so I know. I also do that with exercise so I know how much I have to exercise. I did that yesterday because I had a hamburger and was still under my calories, fat, and sodium :]

I always plan first thing in the morning for the day ahead
and have even filled in the following days menus the night before, I quite often plan all meals for the week on paper for when i go grocery shopping
  • Planning is key for me, especially for breakfast and lunch, since I am at work and have less control over what I can eat. Do what works for you!
  • Also, 120 calories for breakfast is NOTHING! Of course you were still hungry!! I try to shoot for 300, but sometimes it's 400 or 450 even. It changes from day to day. The reason that you were still hungry (imho) is that you hadn't eaten enough. ;)
