OK everytime I eat spaghetti I gain a few ounces. I try to be honest about logging the portion size and calories. I eat whole wheat noodles, and use 96% lean ground beef. I have been losing every day except the days I eat spaghetti. I feel like it takes me42 days just to lose the weight I gain from one meal.

Try replacing it with ground turkey or I even cut up boneless skinless chicken breast into bite size pieces really yummy.

In addition to replacing the beef with ground turkey, you should try replacing your noodles with spaghetti squash. It's surprisingly tasty with about 1/4 the calories.

 I don't think its the meat. I think its the pasta. Maybe its just because its so difficult to get an accurate count as everybody makes spaghetti differently. I think I'm going to try vegetarian again. Last time I did that I ate junk though. I will have to be more careful and healthy this time.

My sister has done this. I love squash, but I don't think I can consider it spaghetti. How do you cook it and prepare it?

are you using a scale to measure out the 2 ounces ( suggested amount on most spaghettis) Last night i had spag. for dinner too, and weighed out my ounces, suprisingly enough, it was a different portion that I would have thought, try that before you completly give it up!
  • Spaghetti Squash is awesome!! Even if you dont like squash. You take it, cut in half, take out seeds in the middle wash it well, steam it till tender and scrap out the insides and it comes out like spaghetti noodles. A good pasta sauce and parmesan cheese is all you need to make it taste yummo! You might be gaining though because the pasta and the high sodium (fat too w.meat) will cause the pasta to swell up and bloat you. White pasta turns into sugar in the body which causes your insulin to rise.

Cut the spaghetti squash in half long ways. Take out the seeds. Cook it cut side down for about an hour. Turn it over. I usually add a little margarine and pepper to flavor it. Stick it back in the oven cut side up and cook it until the insides are tender (usually about another 15-20 minutes). I was surprised by how good it was. I have two spaghetti squash that I'm cooking today in fact.

pasta makes you bloat and takes awhile to digest, whole wheat pasta even more so...and you dont have to switch to turkey if you dont want to, really lean beef and turkey have the same calories..

you could try spaghetti squash, or shirataki noodles, or make noodles out of zuchini

shirataki noodles sounds interesting in spaghetti. I think you're right about the bloating and digesting. Either I give it up or realize this will happen. Some ground turkey has more fat and calories then lean ground beef. Make sure you get the extra lean ground turkey.
