Good morning Ali
It is thundering and lightning here this morning.
Have a great run everyone

I don't think I ever been called lovely before. Thanks Ali.
I ran 3 miles this morning with electrodes stuck to my chest and carrying a small monitor. It is called a Holter Monitor and it has been recording my heart function for the last 21 hours. Last November I was diagnosed with Corornary Artery Disease and had a stent placed to open up a 90% blockage.
I have always loved running and exercise, but too often allowed life to get in the way of living. Since November, running has been my big giant middle finger in the air to CAD. It is a daily affirmation that I still have some control over what happens to me. With the wires dangling this morning, it was just another reminder to continue living a healthy life style.
I may have run just a little harder this morning than usual. I just wanted to say "analyze this".
Here's to good health, good runs, and good test results!0 -
Good morning all!!
I got out for my 5miles. Got it down to exactly 53 minutes. I can't believe how quickly I'm improving. I can't wait to try a 10k to see how close I am to an hour.
Ali, get out there and let us know how great your run turned out!! Look at you, started the post twice in a row!! :flowerforyou: :flowerforyou:
Kechie, sorry to hear about the weather. We've been getting thunderstorms almost every day for over a week. Worst part is that they are calling for more rain over the next 5 days!! I need some sunshine!!
jdtrainer, that's amazing that you are going out and running with all that equipment. You are truly an inspirations.
I'm spending the day at the zoo with my daughter's class. Pray for us that it won't rain!!
:flowerforyou: :flowerforyou:0 -
WOW!!! I thought I was out early.....geesh. You guys are some go-getters! WTG!
Well, I hauled my behind outta bed this morning determined to have a morning run today. I logged my five miles and I feel good! You know I don't usually run outside. I must've been running like someone was chasing me because I ran it lot faster than I normally do on the treadmill.
I feel so liberated to have the rest of my day now, having already done something for myself! I wanted to report that I saw 11 rabbits, 40 Canadian geese and two goslings. It was a veritable nature run....hahaha
Make it a good one everybody.

Mireille, You know how men lie about the size of equipment! It is really just 1 small box with 5 wires going to electrodes. Not that inspirational. More of a nuisance.0

lmao!
Still, I think that a lot of people would use that as an excuse not to get out and run (or exercise for that matter).
I still think you are awesome!!

I posted this last night but it was pretty late - only the west coast MFP friends would have read it - or those with insomnia like me!!
Hey Nighttime Runner's Club Friend!
This week is Week 4 of my Road to the 10 miler!
Schedule was:
Monday - It turns out I was in the wrong training class so I only did 2.5 miles - should have done 4, but that's okay...10 minute pace...easy run
Tuesday - Strength Training - 60 minutes BodyPump Class
Wednesday - 3 mile interval training - 10 minute warm up then 4 minutes at race pace then 90 seconds jog, repeated three times then 15 minute cool down...Did this one in a weird summer storm - double rainbows in the sky - fantastic! **Must tell you funny thing happened - I was running with another girl in the training and we passed a young girl jogging in a very...um....less than supportive bra - looked like a porn video we both looked at eachother and broke out laughing we almost had to stop! Girls! first rule of running - wear a GOOD support bra!!
Thursday - XT - Cross training day - did 45 minutes on the Elliptical at 70%THR
Friday - REST!!
Saturday - 6.5 miles scheduled. Found lots of new courses in my area on www.mapmyrun.com - great site!!
That's it!!
Special applause to all the beginners! Keep up the great work!!0 -
Good morning track stars!!! :smooched:
Sounds like everyone hit it this morning!! (Woot-Woot!) I got 3.5 in before work this morning, felt GREAT!! :drinker:
Good luck on your 6.5 miles tomorrow, Trish! Hit it early & bring lots of water!!
YEAH FRIDAY!!!!!0 -

I haven't run in almost 2 weeks--got sick last week, then took my daughters on a quick vacation early this week. Got on the treadmill for 35 min this am--did just over 3.5 miles. Glad to get back at it!!

Happy Friday everybody!
I love coming on here and reading how everybody is doing every day. It's amazing how inspirational it is.
This morning Ali, Shannon, pmkelley, and jdtrainer were all inspiring to me.
Ali, way to go run even when the weather makes it hard. Somebody on here was saying a while ago that their trainer was going to break them of the habit of being a "fair-weather runner." That's what I need to do too, and reading your post inspires me to do that.
Shannon, I loved the picture! Now that is inspiring! Is she the girl that was on Amazing Race?
jdtrainer, it is really inspiring to hear about somebody not making excuses any more, and just getting it done. That's what I'm hoping to do too. In the past I've always gone only so far and then made excuses to be lazy again.
pmkelley - your program sounds similar to the one I'm trying to train for the marathon. I love all the cross training. I don't get bored when I'm switching up my workouts every day. I'm just at the end of the first week, and all I have left to do is my long run tomorrow (which will be 12 miles.) My week has consisted of weight training three days along with yoga and small cardio work on the elliptical, one speed workout (intervals), one medium sized run, and the long run tomorrow.
Have a great day, and a wonderful weekend. Thanks for the inspiration everybody.

I sucked it up (when I really would have preferred laying in bed reading a book. I'm half way and hooked).
Anyway, I ran 5 miles in 44 min. I did half mile intervals between 6.5 and 7. I guess the thought of spending the day at a waterpark (in a bikini - I think) and having to buy new bermuda or something for family pictures motivated me.
Have great runs everyone! I wish I had the ambition to run out side, but I'm such a wimp when it's too hot!0 -
Today is my rest day.....but now I want to run as you have all done so well today!!
HAPPY RUNNING!! AND HAPPY FRIDAY!!!!

It was great to read about everybody's determination today!
I haven't posted for a while--I'm still running, though. I've had some pain and tightness in my left calf. It feels kinda like a knot in my muscle. So I've been trying to stretch lots and give my body some rest days, too. I'm just not sure what it is.
I logged 5 miles yesterday and the day before and hit 100 miles on my Nike Plus! But this mornining I walked and lifted to try and rest my calf. I have some important things coming up this summer that I HAVE to be healthy for!
Keep it up my fellow runners!

Hey everyone! Happy Friday! Hope the runs have gone well!
As for me, i am out of town visiting some friends, borrowing couches for the weekend. I brought some gear to run with, but havent found time to go run. I don't think it's going to happen but i figured if there's any down time, it would be a nice to have some shoes on hand.
Anyway! Looking forward to Sunday and a run. Until then, good luck all! happy running and I'll get caught up on the board once I'm back at home.0 -

Princess, I always think that the hardest part is getting out the door. The rest kind of takes care of itself. Put on those running shoes and promise yourself to go to the end of the block and if you still do not feel like running, come back home and know you tried. I bet if you get out the door, you will not stop at the end of the block. Good luck and good running!!0

Excellent advice and so true for me. There have been many days that I just did not want to go. One day I was having one of those days as I slowly jogged past one of my neighbor's sitting out on her patio. My neighbor is obese and has serious health problems. As I walked past she said "Good for you. I wish I could run. My health is so bad I can't even walk. Enjoy your run." I enjoyed my run that day and I think about her and how fortunate I am that I can run when I am in the just don't want to do it mood.0 -
You betta be runnin' that cute lil tush Lawndry!0

Thank you both so much!!! I posted that and since we live on a long road, about 1/4 mile to the end and back. So I ran for 20 minutes! Yey me! I figured since I have biking also, and swimming...I could take an easier night and just not stress over going for 500 + calories. Whewh! Felt good though!
Thanks for the tortoise push!0 -
Thata girl!
Great job:drinker:0 -

LOL I did! I did!!! Thanks girlie!0 -
I know it's late, but I just got in and I had to post! I asked a few days ago about the couch to 5k, and I started week 1 day 1 today. The kids are away at grandma's, so the hubby and I ran it together. We judged by the distance more than the times, and we were gone for about 30 minutes and logged in just over a mile. The neighborhood is a little hilly, so I was fairly slow getting up the hills. We sprinted the last stretch to the house, and coming downhill we bypassed our house and ran up to the neighbor's before turning to walk back. It felt great!0
