Weigh before or after?

MFP friends,

Do I weigh food before or after it is cooked? making lean hamburger on grill tonight... it may shrink some, but what is the proper weight to calculate?

    I've always been told to weigh BEFORE cooking with meats...

    i weight my food after i cook it. and when you search for it look for "cooked meat" that shoul help.

    almost everything is supposed to be weighed before, pasta,meat,veggies,dead human flesh,fruits,grains,ect...

    Ok, was doing good until I got to the human flesh.... LOL... not on the menu tonight :noway:

    I weigh my meats after I cook them, sometimes before but normally after. It can't be that much of a big difference! Pasta I weigh before (dry).
  • I used to weigh everything before, however I am starting to do major prep for the week now. Today I cooked up a pound of ground turkey. I will now use the cooked weight if I make a taco with it or something. Today I cut up some fish and made each fillet 3 oz. I've marked it as that and will use that. So it really depends.
