Question On Net Carbs?

Hi All,
I am following a low-carb eating plan, 50 carbs or less and I have been using the Atkins Endulge coconut bars and chocolate shakes. I was wondering if someone could please explain how the net carb thing works? On the coconut bar package it says it has 19 grams of carobohydrates but only 3 grams of net carbs? Kinda confusing to me. Please help!
Thanks so much!
Denise

I'm not even on a low carb diet, but I was curious (I'm avoiding studying right now, haha). I googled "net carbs" and found this article. It may help!

I believe that the "net carb" value is basically the amount of carbs that your body actually absorbs. The rest are either fiber or carbs from some sort of modified/synthetic sugar-based substitute that your body just doesn't absorb.0
